Preparing Your Home for Thanksgiving the Metaphysical Way
Every November, we come together as family and friends to enjoy the energy of gratitude, giving, and joy. However, during this time of year also comes stress, family drama, and negative emotions. Preparing your space energetically helps to protect us from some of those unpleasant holiday troubles, and also creates an uplifting environment that fosters true thanksgiving in the hearts of those that we love. The following is a simple guide to preparing your home for Thanksgiving
Use selenite and obsidian in your table decor Placing obsidian and selenite on your table will help disperse any negative energy and radiate positive energy. In turn, it helps to foster positive conversations among family members, as well as enjoyment in the experience. These stones are white and black, so it will blend in nicely with your Thanksgiving décor. Place them in the center of your table, add a few mini pumpkins, oranges and candles on either side.
Don’t forget to smudge your home Your home will be exposed to so many different energies over the holidays, not to mention the energy you bring home from other events, it is important to smudge with sage after each event. This will clear the space of any lingering negativity that may have been brought in by someone else or that you may have brought in from visiting someone else’s home.
Play soft music throughout your space One of our favorite ways to clear energy is through the use of soft, harmonizing music. We have this playing in our showroom to charge the crystals and jewelry and to keep them clear of negative energy of anyone who might come in. Music is also a powerful tool for inviting positive energy in. You can use Tibetan mantras, Sanskrit chants, angel music or any other music that may be representative of what holiday spirit means to you.
Disperse scent There are a number of ways to utilize aromatherapy in your home to help keep the peace among relatives and create a positive environment. Sage, cinnamon, bergamot, and cloves are excellent scents to use at this time of year because they create a beautiful melange of aromas that blend seamlessly with the smells coming from the kitchen. You can boil the dried herbs on the stove to disperse the energy through the home. Or you can use an oil diffuser or burner to easily distribute the scents through your environment. In addition to oils, there are numerous candles that you can use in order to achieve the same effect. We are quite fond of Crystal Journey Candles’ Housewarming. This candle smells like pumpkin pie when it burns, so it will definitely fit the atmosphere.
Create a gratitude list Place a few sheets of paper on the wall, or on a separate table, and write all of the things that you’re grateful. Encourage your guests to share the things that they are feeling grateful for in their lives. You can share this list during dinner or keep it posted.
