SilverClan is the name of my main ClanGen clan, which I've decided to share some stuff for here. I was inspired by the community on tumblr to start making stuff after seeing the amazing art and stories people have come up with!
I'm not much of a writer, so most posts will be drawings with the odd comic thrown in. I like to try out new things every now and then though! I play about a year ahead to plan out what's happening each moon plot-wise.
Asks are open, so feel free to send any to the cats to ask what they're up to! I love answering to show off cats personalities or hint at lore.
Here's an ask to keep in your inbox until you are prepared to talk about it. But Starclan? How does it work for Ranchclan?
A little explanation writing under the cut!
Basically, the Starclan is just the territory clans hold within the Ethereal Plains, and without collective support from the living - belief and energy - it's easy for souls to fade away and be reborn/recycled into something else. Either reincarnating in the material world or being turned into something different within the Plains (Cottonkit chose to reincarnate! right now Berrypaw manages that as the Starclan guide). Certain cats are born with a natural intuition and connection to the Plains, and depending on the strength of the spirit can communicate or have ghost sight, otherwise best form is through the dream bubbles (if anyone says homestuck I'm blocking you /j)
Man this whole territory tour has burnt me out ☹️ I keep getting excited about new characters or kittens (oh my god y2 has a kitten BOOM. So many beans) but then I remember I'd have to finish that first
And like sure, I could just summarize the rest of it or speed it up but then would I get stuck again? I don't know =/
Turns out I don't have the patience for these big comics very often, I should probably make the updates shorter / less detailed again lmao
Miles is a thoughtful silver and white molly. She is 70 moons old (5y 10m) with the Clever trait.
Miles files in the game say that she's a silver marbled tabby. I picked the name SilverClan but didn't expect so many silver-pelted or eyed cats!
She's a large cat, one of the taller cats in the clan. Her fur is sleek, and has developed a fair amount of visible muscle since she joined the clan.
Miles's original in-game backstory is that she was a loner who was chased from her home by another cat. I tweaked it a little, so in canon she was a housecat who was chased away by a dog her twolegs got. That's why Breezepath and Dancingstar found her wandering the twoleg place - her sense of direction is so bad she couldn't find her way back home and got lost.
She thinks about going back every so often, but she has no idea how to get back and is finding she enjoys clan life, so she hasn't seriously planned to leave yet
One of my notes for her personality is that she's charismatic, but that's not from this moon and I can't remember if she had the same at this point in the story .u." I like to think she's become more confident as she's got used to clan life!
Her closest friend is Breezepath. He uses any advantage he can in training and battles, and I think the two of them discuss strategy for those as well as hunting. Miles hasn't been in the clan long, but she could be good deputy material one day and is also friends with Dancingstar and Raggedfern.
She doesn't have any enemies, and mostly any cats she does dislike a little she still trusts or is friendly towards.
She has a small amount of romantic interests in the clan, though she doesn't seem all to interested in pursuing them. Unfortunate for those other cats - one has a full blown crush on her.
I temporarily renamed her Gossamerflight at one point (randomly generated name), but Miles just fits her really well so I changed it back after a moon. If she ever became leader she'd take the name Milestar / Milesstar formally, but still let her clanmates call her Miles.
I draw marking references for every cat, including what's under their white marks (shown below) in case they have kits. I wish I got to show the base more, her non-sprite design is one of my favourites!

I'm going to be losing access to my PC soon due to rewiring and the next post isn't ready yet. Instead I'll be posting some of the characrer posts this week!
Only one route remaining in camp - to the Main Dens!
Since there's no poll for what place to pick next this week, here's something different! This is slow going and I want to write more about a few cats (What their childhood was like, any gossip, behind the scenes extras, etc.)

Since there's no poll for what place to pick next this week, here's something different! This is slow going and I want to write more about a few cats (What their childhood was like, any gossip, behind the scenes extras, etc.)
So turns out trying to make new posts as soon as a poll ended is a super efficient way to get burnt out (who would have thought!). I had to take a break to recharge and come back when I felt it was doable again.
One thing I've really struggled with every time I come back to SilverClan is not overdoing it when it comes to pages and making things way harder than they need to be. There's a reason that clangen blog updates tend get further apart the longer they go on for - people improve and want to put more into each update!
Every time I've come back to SilverClan it's because I've vowed to cut back on something or make it easier for myself in some way, but I always end up putting more and more back into it (main culprit this time was that overview of the camp). I don't want to take a "step back" in terms of quality and keep trying to one-up every page. This is a really unsustainable way of making a comic!!
So I've decided I will make apologetically imperfect art for a while. I'm going to cut corners, I'm going to make things fast and loose, and I'm going to enjoy the process rather than getting caught up in the details.
(I'd build up a buffer except I can't really do that with the choose-your-own-adventure format going on right now ^ ^")
Whatever happens, I want it to be known that the reason I keep coming back is that this community is incredible. There are so many talented and friendly people and seeing the support people give each other out there is amazing ❤
Ok so the whole "not giving a date on when the comic would be back" thing was to give myself time to get back into it but I just went and made the next two pages lmao
