He stared at the redhead’s face, surprised himself that she was already fighting back to consciousness. But he wasn’t upset about it. The sooner he could get this over with and get some blood, the better. Plus, he didn’t want to spend any more time being interrogated. If he’d had to wait any longer, he might have just knocked out the witch girl, taken the blood that rightfully belonged to him, and punished the witch for meddling by destroying her stuff. He could practically smell the anxiety pouring off the girl watching him. It was unpleasant, and a bit annoying. The sooner, the better.
“Fine,” he said. Letting go of her hand, he moved his hand to her uninjured shoulder and began shaking her, not unkindly. It wouldn’t have caused her much, if any, pain. “Hey, how long do you plan to sleep for? Wake up!”
Valerie stepped into the kitchen, preparing a pot of hot tea for her patient. She’d need ginger, some honey…quietly, she collected the strong plants she’d need to perk up the redheaded girl, as well as the natural things she’d need to counteract their bitter taste. For her and Subaru, however, she pulled out a cold pitcher of sweet tea from the fridge-something she drank almost as much as water. She wasn’t about to find out what he liked-the brunette had no intention of seeing him again, though she knew the kind of sugar he needed to fix that temperament was one she wouldn’t provide.
In the back room, slowly, straining, Ceri began to open her eyes. A magnificent blue, they happened upon Subaru’s face first-and stayed there. She was awestruck. Had he been the one who’d held her hand so kindly? Dazed for only a moment, a faint blush soon came over her cheeks. Oh, her savior was so handsome and kind, her very own prince…she’d been completely taken in by his vampiric allure.
By the time that the girl returned with the tea, the redhead had opened her eyes--a strikingly deep blue--and had them trained on his face, dazed and captivated. This took him by surprise as much as it didn't. On one hand, he had expected that he might have had to take her blood the hard way. But it turned out that she had the same sort of reaction that other humans often had. Her succumbing to him was almost enough to make him gag. While a human could be entranced easily by a vampire's beauty, only he knew just how hideous he truly was. The foolishness only made him thirstier. He wanted to punish her for being so blind. He'd show her just what kind of awful person he was--the kind that could drive even white roses mad.
"You awake? You took quite a beating out there," he muttered, waving a hand disinterestedly toward the direction of where he'd seen the blood trail. "You're lucky this woman found you, otherwise who knows what could have happened?"
