I play sims- sometimes that means making my own CC, sometimes that means modding my game beyond recognition, right now it means creating a vanilla save file that’s full of occults, unique lots, and fun lore to uncover. Will I release it? No idea! But I’m having fun!

The Dulce Save: an information post

What is The Dulce Save?

The Dulce Save is my running Sims 4 project to create an interesting save file for me and anyone else to use as a base. The idea is that this is a replacement for the EA save file that starts every new game in The Sims 4. This started as a personal project and has now evolved into something I am sharing with all of you!

I deleted all builds and sims from the world and am in the process of replacing all of them with new sims and new builds. So far I have something like 30 households, and 20ish builds in the world. The world that is the most complete is Oasis Springs, followed by Tartosa and San Myshuno.

What is different about The Dulce Save?

1: Occults. It is important to me to include more occults in the world than EA did. I especially want to include occults seamlessly into worlds besides the ones that came with their packs. For example, I have a celebrity vampire living in Del Sol Valley and a runaway mermaid living in Tartosa. Aliens tend to show up in Oasis Springs and Werewolves are in the process of moving to Chestnut Ridge. That being said, I have lots of non-occult townies too, so there’s something for everyone!

2: Lore and Relationships. My second goal with this Save file is to make the townies seem like they’ve actually lived lives prior to the start of a new game. Townies have friends, enemies, skills, dreams, secrets, and goals. I wanted players to be able to play with the sims I’ve created or with their own, and uncover lore as they do so!

What packs are needed to play this save?

Though I know we don’t all have access to all the packs, (I don’t have them all either) this save is not pack limited. I try to choose basegame options when possible, and I try to avoid using packs like batuu, but a huge part of the fun for me is using all the items (that I’ve payed out the nose for). When the save is released I will share which packs are needed, but it will likely be most of them.

Does this save file use custom content or mods?

Nope! I don’t know about you, but my mods folder is always a mess. Keeping track of needed CC is not doable for me, so this is a CC-free project. I use mods to build and set up lore, but no mods will be needed to play this save file.

Can I just download ___ build/sim?

Yes! I am uploading all of my builds and households to the gallery under the hashtag #dulcesave. My gallery ID is WistyMermaid. Just follow standard etiquette-don’t reload and claim as your own yadda yadda

When will it be finished?

Psssht. Your guess is as good as mine! In the future probably! As of writing this I’ve been working for about 6 months. The Sims isn’t my job, so progress is slow, and this is a huge project. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride!

I’m entertaining the idea of a YouTube channel for my gaming escapades. Sims stuff and minecraft stuff mostly. Maybe animal crossing.

Part of this is just a desire to document. I want a record of what I’m doing in these games. But another part is the desire to share. I want other people to interact with what I make and I want to interact with what they make, you know? I crave that interconnectedness.

I don’t really care about gaining lots of followers. My genuine goal would be like… 50 people who regularly watch. But with how the internet is nowadays, even that would probably require a lot of work (or a stroke of algorithmic luck) and I’m an adult with a career and I have no interest in spending hours and hours grinding for this.

Any of you out there in the same boat? Want to commiserate? Want me to follow your YouTube channel? lol

I guess if it’s an unsuccessful YouTube channel then I don’t care? Like what am I losing besides the time it takes to edit and upload content? Like if I was gonna play anyway… though I’d have to talk to myself and record… and my husband would have to tolerate it.

Hey simblr, question:

Is there any specific way to force specific sims to work as NPC Jobs? Like bartender, food stall vendor, waiter, butler, etc? And if a sim ends up in one of those jobs, will they stay there or will they autonomously change jobs? Any knowledge appreciated!

I would love for some of my save file sims to be bartenders and stuff for the lore! In an ideal world I could force specific sims into specific jobs but I want to understand how it works better even if that’s not possible. Thanks!

Meet Oliviana! She's a simfluencer, jet-setter, heart-breaker, and digital nomad living her dreams of traveling the world and vlogging the whole thing. She's currently crashing in a hotel in Chestnut Ridge and is loving the quaint vibes. Her followers are eating up this horse-girl stuff too! Not that she's ever actually ridden a horse. The girl staying in the room downstairs is totally obsessed with her, too. It's good for her ego, so she's extended her trip.

The Desert Winds Trailer park used to be a really crappy place to live, but the current residents all have a good amount of pride in their community.l They're sprucing the area up one trash bag at a time. It's a challenge, though, as the junkyard is next door and the house on the other side is condemned. They love their little community and hope that whoever moves into the vacant trailer will fit in and help them on their mission.

I'll be sharing the sims who live here later on!

The local bar in Oasis Springs is called "Deep Space" and it lives up to the name. The entire place is alien themed. Trying to capitalize on whatever tourism they can, I guess? It's dive-y, but the locals like hanging out there. They even have a small stage out back for open-mic nights, though it isn't used much.

This is the Mirage Strip Mall in Oasis Springs!

It's a small business lot type- something that has revolutionized my gameplay- and it is owned by a local family. they run 2 of the 3 businesses (and the 3rd doesn't require employees don't worry about it). There's a cozy bookstore, a cutesy coffee shop, and a classic bowling alley all on the same lot. Your sims can use any of these businesses when visiting, so long as an owner and employees are set up (as they are in my save file). The Bowling Alley is home to the Tumbleweeds Bowling Team- A club made up of several local sims who love to bowl together.

I swear multipurpose lots are the best thing that's ever happened to the Sims 4

---Welcome to Eclipse Apartments! We have the most generic units for the most lower-middle class folks! We span two lots in Oasis Springs with a grand total of eight 2-bedroom apartments! Just a short walk from the local bar, bowling alley, bookstore, and cafe! Eclipse apartments looks forward to hearing from you! (We don't run background checks or credit scores)---

This apartment complex was so fun to build. I wanted room for lots of sims in oasis springs and couldn't resist a realistic dated apartment complex. In my save file, these apartments house 2 alien families, a skeptic, a paranoid scientist, and a soldier. I'll introduce you to all of them another time. All of these builds will be on the gallery, but my username there is WistyMermaid.

Oasis Springs is coming along nicely. Here’s an iPhone photo of my monitor. Lots of aliens live here. It’s kindof an open secret in the area that aliens show up here all the time.

The bottom left neighborhood is finished with a large apartment complex, spanning 2 lots, a strip mall with a bookstore, cafe, and bowling alley, and an alien themed dive bar.

The far right neighborhood is halfway done. It’s a run down area with a trailer park, an abandoned house, and a junkyard that is a community center (with all lot types designed to look like a junkyard that locals are using as a community space) it’s getting a kindof grungy diner and one more house that’s a little nicer. Maybe I’ll do a duplex? A new-construction gentrification house? Not sure.

The bottom right neighborhood isn’t very built out but the owners of the strip mall live there. They’re new money and are doing pretty well but the house isn’t fancy. Pretty plain. They will live next to the public library and have some other uppity neighbors.

The park in the center is an alien crash site that I used TOOL mod for. The family aboard the saucer may or may not still be in town hiding from the law. The residents built a splash pad around the wreckage since the government is dragging their feet on the cleanup. It’s a bit goofy so I might still adjust this but for now I like it.

I haven’t put much thought into the other neighborhoods, definitely need some rich people, maybe a cemetery in the biggest lot, maybe a vacation rental. I have a feeling I’ll be moving on to another world after I finish the run-down neighborhood. I’m getting tired of the desert landscaping and exteriors lol

So far I think I have 10 households made in this world. I have several custom alien families, skeptics, military personnel, an old woman who loves pink, a teen influencer (who’s also a secret alien), a single father, a lesbian couple, and a weird artist living in a trailer with his dog. There’s a bowling league and everything. And I’m not even halfway done with the world! I’m having fun making custom aliens with the tattoo feature and the new horns and stuff from the fairy pack. Some of them are alien occults but others are regular sims with alien appearances. Just play pretend ok?

This is the most completed world but I have households made in lots of different worlds and I’m really enjoying the process! Lots of serious lore and silly stories too. Maybe I’ll post deep dives on different households when I feel like it. :)
