I have a question! How would you recommend a beginner get into video editing / compilations? Any specific programs or hot tips?

i personally went through the movie maker-sony vegas-after effects-premiere pro timeline but personally for social edits (anything that's not big post production house editing like tv shows or movies) i'd recommend learning how to edit on premiere and after effects - personally im a big capcut hater bc i dont think editing on your phone gives you any soft skills in case you want to pursue editing career (tho for quick edits on my phone i use inshot)

if you want to get into large scale projects, getting avid certification is the way to go! some universities in the UK offer is for free if you study editing/television/film

WE WON TWO WEBBYS! I like to humble myself by remembering that this wouldn't be possible if I wasn't bored on a random Sunday back in 2017 and did not start an Instagram fan acc for two niche ghost hunters/YouTubers.

Hope this exists as a reminder than the creative passion you have as a fan can fuel your professional career going forward so if you ever feel a bit too excited about a piece of media, go ahead and make that edit/fan acc/art because one day it could pay off!

dead boy detectives sparked in me such a tv show joy i havent felt im a long time (mostly due to actually getting job in the industry and not being That active in fan communities anymore). but ever since i got assigned dbd to work on it, i've been STRUGGLING. my professional approach was gone bc this silly detective show made me go a lil insane but im having a blast!

been freelancing at netflix since 2021 and finally got the chance to visit one of their offices - got whiplash when i saw they were playing the dead boy detectives 'meet the characters' trailer i happened to work on! absolutely surreal

that being said, dead boy detectives is coming out tomorrow and i worked on some promotional social assets for it and i CAN'T wait to debrief it with you when it comes out. i don't think i've had such a blast watching a show since forever. only one more day to go!!! (and yes, i was literally counting down days till the premiere so i can finally start yapping about it)
