Episode 6 - Yuri!!! on Ice

Yuri!!! On Ice is such a fun and iconic anime that we just could not miss a chance to simp about it. Not to mention it was the first anime that we watched together! We had a wonderful time dissecting the plot, talking about what makes the show so gay, and have some fun guessing Yuri on Ice characters through a Tinder-themed game. Listen in to our many thoughts about asses, realistic figure skating, and the beauty of Yuri and Viktor’s relationship. We are truly just doing our community a favor by over-analyzing this gay icon of a show.

Fanfic Friday

Fanfic of the week is "Anyone" by Gentrychild on ao3! This fanfic takes a spin on villain Deku without making him a villain like most we see in My Hero Academia. It's a fun ride of seeing this path for Deku and the ensuing aftermath. A wonderful blend of crack amd seriousness, this is sure to appeal to a majority of readers. Huge shout out to Gentrychild for their dedication to this fanfic -- over 200k word count and still posting!

This Trivia Tuesday, we wanted to comment on the recent leak of the Supreme Court's highly likely decision to overturn Roe v Wade. For Emma and Izzy, that is an unacceptable decision. Women should have access to our own bodies and make our own decisions without government interference. It is a fundamental right that women be able to have abortions without worry fo being jailed or even dying in the process due to resorting to unsafe measures. Being forced to carry and deliver a child is unethical and unconstitutional; overturning Roe v Wade eliminates women’s ability to make decisions for ourselves and positions us as subclass citizens. It is our choice what to do with our bodies. It is our right to choose what is best for us.

SecretChi does a great job with the entire video, from facial expressions to nailing Momo’s ponytail. Animatics are quite the challenge to create, so having one that’s two minutes long is a blessing. They are one of Izzy's favorite fanartists, and this piece is her favorite Todomomo fanart, hands down. verigospirit does such beautiful work and it's so wonderful to have an amazing artist be part of the fandom! This piece in particular captures a gentle, romantic, and absolutely beautiful moment. The flower's in Yayorozu's hair, Todoroki's expression, the attention to detail in their clothing -- it's perfection.

Fanfic Friday

Fanfic of the week is “Hot and Cold/Cold and Hot” by Nay52 on ao3! Todomomo is one of my favorite pairings, and this fic does a marvelous job delving into their characters. Each chapter takes on either Todoroki or Momo’s POV (sometimes both), which normally can be annoying but Nay52 handles the transitions with ease. Nay52 beautifully incorporates the series events with her interpretation of the progressing relationship between Todoroki and Momo; it’s really a treat to see how they grow as individuals and as partners in a (kind of?) relationship.

“Todoroki has no time for romance. He has no time for the new addition to his already long list of admirers. He finds himself trying, and failing miserably, to keep a friendship with someone he wishes to keep close but has no time for her silly crush at the same time. He has only one goal, and feels this should be the same for her. So why was Yaoyorozu trying to drive him mad with her new found feelings? 

Why was she all of a sudden close friends with Midoriya of all people?

Had she always been this popular with guys before? 

and why was she the one trying to keep him at arms length now? 

He could not return her feelings, but he still wanted her near. 

He thought he had a good grasp of her character, but after she confessed her feelings, he was not so sure anymore.”

2) We will start posting one episode per month as opposed to the previous two. This has been so much fun for us and we love it, but we also have full-time jobs and other commitments. We’ve got awesome plans for the future and we hope you’ll continue to tune in!
