Issues with the Demisexual flag

The commonly used demisexual flag make some people uncomfortable due to the use of the black triangle.  There have been many calls to redesign this flag and there have been a few proposals.  However none of these proposals have been agreed upon and none of them are design friendly.

In light of this I have come up with a few of my own proposals so use in merch designs that will be offered IN ADDITION TO the triangle versions.

#Aromantic - Sept. 14 & 15

I tried posting this earlier and Tumblr ate it instead. Anyways, many of you may remember that earlier this year the hashtag #asexual was trending on Tumblr. Back in April I tried to get #aromantic trending as well. Unfortunately, this first effort did not work, which was probably enlarged part because I only posted the effort the day of. People didn't have a chance to prepare or know about it. I'd really like to get #aromantic trending so here's round 2.

Who: Everyone! It doesn't matter if you are aromantic, a positivity blog, LGBTQ+, or anything. All are welcome to participate!

What: This is an effort to get #aromantic trending. You can contribute by creating posts and using #aromantic as well as reblogging other posts, especially from aro people!

These post can be a wide range of things, they can be positivity, art, pride edits, informative, memes, or other various things. As long as they are relevant to aromanticism and have the #aromantic, you're good!

*Please be sure all posts are relevant to aromanticism or the aro spectrum.

Where: Tumblr, but I'm sure posting stuff on other sites wouldn't hurt.

When: Sept. 14 & 15, 2019. (You can start scheduling posts now though!)

Why: There's a lot of reasons why, but one of the biggest is that quite honestly, we leave out aromantic people. They are spoken over, they do not receive the same recognition that asexual people do, I've seen both through my experiences and surveys that they are less likely to be included in the community. They have different stigmas attached to them.

There's also an issue of people posting things that are said to be "aspec" but only apply to aces or things tagged as #aromantic that only apply to ace people. We need to start giving recognition to aromantic people.

In addition to this visibility is extremely important. You might assume that this hashtag trending is a worthless endeavor. But in many ways it's not - it opens the door to learn about a term and learn about themselves. Just the other day I mentioned aromantic to someone, and after explaining it to them, they said "hey, that sounds like me." It starts a conversation that could be eye-opening for many people.

*This is by no means all that should be done for the aro community, but positivity never hurts.

Upon an extensive search, I could not find a definitive Aroace flag or even one or two most commonly used ones.  It seams like every search result was a different flag, making it impossible to figure out which one to use. Therefore, I took ideas from a few different designs and came up with one that was aesthetically pleasing and design friendly.  Now, I am not aro or ace, so if there are any objections to this flag from aroace people, or if someone who is aroace can point me in the direction of a community pole in which a consensus was reached, I will scrap this flag.  If there are no objections, this is the aroace flag that will be used in the Simplipride aroace merchandise.

Money from transphobes, radfems, MRAs, truscum, racists, aphobes, arophobes, kink shamers, and any other variety of bigot or exclu is worthless to me so please go away.

Simplipride store setup

After much consideration, I have decided that the store will be on Shopify and integrate with the print-on-demand apps Printify and Gooten.  I considered Storenvy, but the integration options are extremely limited (pretty much just Printfull) and Shopify allows me to offer a much wider selection of products.  

That’s the good news.  The bad news is that setting up ALL of these products is going to take much longer than anticipated.  So my options are as follows: make a small selection of products with basic/common flags only, then expand once the store launches, or launch later than expected (I’m talking MONTHS from now, MAYBE in time for Christmas) with a full line of products right out of the gate.

There are pros and cons to both, but for now I’m going to buckle down making my designs.  Stay tuned for more combo flag product previews.  Next on the docket is androsexual combos.

New Pride Store Coming Soon!

Hello LGBTQIA+ community!  My name is Avery and I have some news.  I’m launching a massive project and opening a storefront for all your pride merch needs!  Simplipride is already up on RedBubble an TeeSpring, but sales aren’t going well and the collection features there make it difficult for me to neatly sort everything that I want to include.  Also, there are many other sights similar to RedBubble and Teespring and some sights offer products that others don’t.  So I figured why not consolidate all my product links on all my different accounts on one website and organize it the way I want?

This will be a massive undertaking seeing as how I am only one person, but with time, commitment, and support, I’m confident I can pull it off!

Simplipride’s heart combo flags are gender identity pride flags with sexual/romantic orientation hearts in the center.  I’m in the process of making every possible gender/orientation combination.  I’ve made over 400 so far and not even half way done!

There’s a lot of flags on my list (71!!) but it’s still possible yours isn’t up there.  Let me know if it isn’t and I’ll put it on my to do list, but it will be done only after the planned ones are finished and the website launches.
