be like Fred Armisen
i don’t know the guy personally or what he stands for, but i’ve seen Fred Armisen play a woman countless times, in dresses and wigs, the high-pitched voice, i’ve seen him play a cultist in love with Jason Sudekis, i’ve seen him make strange faces and noises, do things that make less than any sense to the viewer, outright embarrassing things, and
i don’t always find him funny but i ever find myself admiring the man’s un-fuck-givingness. ‘tough guys’ like Bukowski are everywhere, ready to bare-knuckle it in the alley if you look at them the wrong way, but guys like Armisen?
that’s the real toughness – letting people look at you any way they want, not caring if they’re laughing with you or at you as the sun goes down on another day. that’s a tough guy. that’s the undefeatable spirit at ease.
