"And I've always admired that about you." She exhaled a deep sigh of frustration, knowing they could talk in circles arguing about Billy's many mistakes. "I was there, Eddie, of course I didn't forget." Ramona happened to be roped into helping Billy find Max only for the night to turn out horrifying the minute they found Steve at the Byers house. "You sound a little defensive. Is that what you think I'm doing, trying to fix him? Edward." She stepped closer, closer than she should have or thought was acceptable as a friend. "Are you sure that's the only reason why you don't think I should date Billy?"

diana sighed . " it doesn't matter , dean . okay ? it doesn't matter . " she looked back at him . " you abandoned me here . you left . and i ... i honestly don't trust you and i don't trust that you won't do it again . " she didn't trust him and she wasn't sure if the time would come that she would again .

"Honestly, I don't trust me either." He was prone to up and leaving the the going got incredibly tough. He ran from his problems, from his emotions, his feelings for her. It was stupid how quickly it happened, but he couldn't deny that it had. "I can't promise that I won't do it again, Di, I'm a hunter. We kill things, we live in shitty motels, we can't have roots. You make me want to, though." Dean reached out and cupped her face between his hands, "What happened between us wasn't supposed to, but I don't regret it. If you want me out of your life, I'll hightail so fast, it'll make your head spin."

steve sucked in a breath . " can we speed up whatever this is ? " he questioned . " i don't exactly have time for all of this . " he was actually looking forward to just going home but it seemed as if the other had another idea .

"Come on, Harrington, you think the former King of Hawkins wouldn't turn down staying at one stupid party." Billy placed the cigarette between his lips and slipped off his favorite leather jacket as they stood by the outdoor pool, grabbing a plastic cup filled with whatever beer was in it from a passing partygoer before taking a drink, "Jump in. Or I'm shoving your ass in."

caroline wrinkled her nose . " gross . " she had to stop herself from shivering at the thought . " and you know that how ? " she tilted her head . " getting here wasn't exactly easy . i doubt getting back here would be a walk in the park . " she narrowed her eyes . " i know what you're trying to do , kai , and quite frankly , i'm too smart for you . "

Kai shrugged nonchalantly, enjoying the fact he could so easily get under her skin. In a way, she reminded him so much of Josette. "I know a lot of things. I know my way around a prison world. Does it really matter how, Caroline?" He looked as if he considered this for a long pause, letting the silence consume the air while nothing but the sound of the fire crackled in the hearth, "Are you really too smart for me? I'm just stating the obvious here. Vampire barbie left behind, I mean, you know they would be chomping at the bit to rescue Elena if you were in her shoes. Poor, sad Elena. You're not her, though." Kai reached over and brushed a strand of Caroline's hair behind her ear, "I think we're surprisingly alike."

" steve sounds smart . " eddie may not have been steve's biggest fan but in the moment , the enemy of his enemy was his friend . " do you really want me to start listing off all the things that are wrong with billy because i can . we might be here for a while but i can definitely do it . " he tilted his head . " just seems like you're selling yourself short going on one date with the biggest asshole this town has ever seen . "

"He sounds overprotective." Ramona moved to slid into one of the stools at the counter and stopped halfway, shooting the male a narrow glare, "It just seems the people like you and my brother aren't willing to see what's beyond that front he puts up. I know he's an asshole, I know he's...angry, but you're one to be judgmental when everybody just sees the nerdy loner any time they look at you." She moved to stand again, rounding the counter as she crossed her arms, "I'm not selling myself short. Eddie Munson, are you actually jealous?"

diana snorted as she shook her head . " okay . " she wasn't going to bother arguing with dean . it wasn't ever going to put them on the same page . " well . you came , you saw , you apologized . " she shrugged . " you are free to leave and go to your next location and hunt whatever it is that crawls around in the dark . "

Dean nodded once, having every intention of leaving, but then he would be returning to the bunker and admitting absolute defeat while his brother rubs it in that he was being a coward. "There's a part of you that doesn't want me to leave no matter how angry you are, isn't there?" He stepped closer, his gaze flickering over Diana's expression, "I don't want to leave. I can't leave. Against everything I know, against what I thought I hated, I still want you. And if that's one-sided, then it is."

" do you even know what hot is ? " caroline stopped walking when kai turned to face her . he really was a talker and she knew that there had to be a catch here somewhere . " oh , and turn you into an uber powerful super villain ? " did kai really think caroline was that stupid ? " and unleash you unchecked in mystic falls ? is that what the game plan here is , kai ? "

"Yeah, and I'm looking at it." A slow smile spread across Kai's lips, a look that seemed almost shy to those who didn't know him, and equally dangerous for those who did. "Well, when you put it like that, it sounds pretty cool. Yes and no." He hummed with contemplation and crossed the room, closing their distance further, "That's part of the game plan. The other part wouldn't mind a partner-in-crime. You don't realize it yet, but every friend you had abandoned you. Elena, Damon, Bonnie, Stefan, Matt, they haven't lifted a finger to rescue you knowing who you're stuck with." Kai shrugged, "If I was in your shoes, I'd burn their world to the ground."

" and you think i don't know about danger ? " diana rubbed her lips together as she looked away from dean . " i'm not your average human , dean , you know that . " she looked back at him . " and it's not your job to keep me safe . or your decision for that matter . " but she had a feeling that the two of them were going to disagree on that fact .

"I'm not saying that you don't, Di." Dean exhaled a huff of air out of frustration and dragged his gaze away before finding her again. "Yeah, you're a witch, I know, but I had every reason wanting to keep you safe after the bullshit with your dad." Diana likely still had siblings out there somewhere and some might even share Blackwell's beliefs. "You encountered your own kind, but you never went up against what I have. You don't know what crawls around in the dark."

eddie looked up , perking a brow as romano went on . " billy ? " maybe he shouldn't have been so surprised about that and if he was being honest , he wasn't . " i'm no expert here but i don't think it's a flex to say you finally caved into a guy . let alone that you caved into billy hargrove of all people . "

"Yes, Billy." Ramona opened the fast food bag and plucked out a fry, nibbling on it briefly before rolling his eyes, "And what's wrong with Billy Hargrove?" A great many things, apparently. He could be cruel as evidenced by the one time on a ride home when he mentally tormented his step-sister Max. He was cocky, a little narcissistic, definitely. "There's more to him than he lets on. You're starting to sound like Steve." She breathed a long sigh, "It's one date, Eddie. If you're worried he's going to try anything, I can handle him."

" we ? " diana questioned . " we didn't leave anything . you left . " she shook her head as she sucked in a breath . " you swooped in , shook up my life , and then vanished . you don't get to just come back here and what ? pick up where things left off ? " she didn't quite get what dean thought was going to happen . " until , you know , you have to leave again ? "

"Yeah, okay, leaving things like they were is kind of on me." Jaw tensing, Dean rubbed at his chin at he grew silent for a moment, "I know, alright? Diana, trust me, I know. My brother and I don't tend to stay in one town for very long." That's why he never bothered making true connections beyond who was involved with their cases. It never lasted. "I just wanted to say I was sorry in person. I don't want to shake your life more than I already have. And god, is there a part of me that wants to take you when I leave, but what I do is dangerous. I can't be selfish and have you be safe, it doesn't work that way."

" you have got to be kidding me . " she watched as kai moved . she grunted , pushing herself up to follow him out . " you should make the story quick . " caroline looked back at him . " before i have you for dinner . " granted , she knew she couldn't kill him . regardless of what kai said , she knew she needed him to get out of here and back home .

"I rarely kid. sometimes, not always, you'll know when I'm not." Mainly when somebody ended up dead. Kai led them both up the stairs and into the living room where a warm fire was crackling, a fresh blanket of snow that was constantly falling in this prison world covering the ground just outside the window. "I'll let you have a little nibble. That's hot." The witch turned around on his heel, facing Caroline, "My family basically has a long, long, long history of stashing away witches they think are abominations. You probably didn't realize Lily wasn't the only vampire in this prison world. I did some exploring and right now, hidden in a cave somewhere, is Mama Salvatore and her little friends. They can stay and rot here for all I care. My point is, Caroline," He moved closer, brushing a finger under her chin and pulling away, "I need magic to get us out. It's simple, really...you turn me into a vampire, well, heretic is what they call it. And then home sweet home."

Admittedly, her brother didn't really like the men she surrounded herself with, simply put. Ramona enjoyed the push-and-pull of Billy Hargrove despite his reputation and he pursued her in a way that made her feel special despite being related to the guy who was known as the King of Hawkins High. And then there was Eddie, the dungeon master, the loner. Steve wasn't a fan of his either, but she knew him through their school years and often acted like siblings even if there was something...deeper had either of them admitted such. After turning down a ride home from Billy and borrowing Steve's car without him realizing, Ramona had hauled herself all the way to Eddie's trailer. "I figured your uncle was working the night shift, so food delivery." She dropped the bag holding the burger and fries on the counter, "Can't stay too long. Billy's taking me out on a date later and I finally caved."

her eyes narrowed . she had to wonder if kai was an idiot especially as he moved closer to her . at the mention of klaus , she moved . she gripped his throat with her hand , forcing him on the ground . " you really aren't helping your case , kai . " the grip she had on his throat tightened . she may have been a little weaker but she wasn't completely fragile but deep down , she knew kai was right . she couldn't kill him . caroline growled before letting him go . " how do we get out of here ? "

Kai could do nothing but choke out a laugh as he felt the pressure around his neck tighten, silently begging Caroline to force the grip even tighter, as his back made contact with the ground. The siphoner groaned, yet, that did not stop him plastering a grin on his lips, "I think I'm helping it just fine." Kai pushed himself to a seated position as the vampire released him, chuckling again as he rose to his feet. "Oh, I'm not getting us out of here, Care bear. You are." Gesturing toward the door, he moved forward, knowing somehow she would follow if she didn't want to be locked up in the cellar again, "I'll tell you a little story and then you'll have your dinner."

" it would make a lot of sense if you said it was a case , dean . " truth be told , that's what she thought his answer would have been . when he gave the real reason , diana almost laughed . " me ? " she shook her head as she looked away from him . " yeah , i think coming all this way for little ol' me might have been a mistake . "

"You wouldn't believe if I lied anyway, so I didn't see the point." Dean ran the tip of his tongue along his lower lip and glanced away for a moment, feeling stupid for even bothering making this trip. And he's not the type of person to feel stupid about anything. He was confident, cocky, but all of that disappeared in front of one witch. "If you want me to leave, I'll go and never come back. Okay, I'll respect that choice." He held up his hands in faux surrender, "I didn't like how we left things. All that time we spent together and then I leave. I know that's just how my life is, but I couldn't stop thinking about you."

caroline knew that kai could be annoying and she knew that he couldn't be trusted but the siphon really took it to a whole new level . throwing her into the cell was one thing but the constant annoyance of his visits . of rubbing it in that her friends left her . it really got under the vampire's skin . caroline looked up when he rattled against the door peering at her through the bars before nudging the door open . caroline wondered if kai was stupid . she was hungry and he was the only walking vein around here as far as she could see . " i'm going to rip your head off , kai . "

Kai breathed an amused chuckle as he leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms while he took in the hungry vampire. Truthfully, throwing her in here wasn't the initial part of the plan, but it was a split second decision. And nothing could beat the delicious anger written all over Caroline's pretty features. "We both know that you could, but you won't." He pushed off from where he was standing are dared walking a few steps closer, gesturing toward the exit, "We'll get you something to snack on, trust me, but you're missing the whole point of your potential freedom right now, Care bear." Kai stopped just in front of the vampire, humming lightly, "I needed you to see they weren't coming back. That they left you here...with me. A sociopath, a known murderer, no matter how adorable I am." A brief pause, "And I think a part of you doesn't mind that. Certainly wouldn't mind if I was Klaus, but I digress."

diana wanted to say that she hadn't thought about dean . maybe , sometimes , that was true . she stopped being hopeful . accepted that he was gone and out of her life and , honestly , she stopped expecting that he would just one day show up but even if he did , would it really matter anymore ? probably not .

and then , one day , just like that , he was there . for a moment , diana thought her eyes were playing tricks on her but no , there he was , in the flesh . she wasn't so much relieved as she was angry but she managed to keep a somewhat neutral expression . " what brings dean winchester back to town ? "

Sam always said there was one woman in Dean's life who got away. It's no secret he wasn't a fan of witches or magic, but Diana stuck out in his mind no matter what town he ended up in on whatever case landed in the brothers' laps. the traveling became less frequent, however, once the Winchesters discovered the Men of Letters bunker, it was their home away from...whatever home they made with the shitty motels. That didn't stop Dean from tracking down Diana within the same little town he left her in unceremoniously. He didn't really know what to say during the whole drive and he definitely didn't now that she was right in front of him. "Would you believe if I lied and said a case?" The hunter asked rhetorically, his gaze flickering down briefly, "You want the truth? It might be you." Dean released a dry laugh as he shook his head, "And this was a mistake."

It was no coincidence Kai specifically requested Caroline's company traveling to the 1913 prison world in order to help retrieve Lily Salvatore as a favor. A favor, right, like he ever did anything for free. Sure, he was feeling sentimental with a hint of Luke's emotions, but that did not stop him from shoving her into the old Salvatore cellar and locking her in when she least anticipated. And then the others just decided to rudely leave them two behind before anyone realized their favorite little vampire barbie wasn't part of the escape crew. Of course, there was that small stabby stabby with Bonnie, but after he managed to bandage himself up halfway decently, he took the time visiting Caroline in the cell the last few days and reiterate how her own friends left her. Elena, Bon-Bon, Damon, some friends. Starving her out just slightly. Today, however, was different. Kai rapped on the door obnoxiously, peering briefly through the bars with a smirk, before fiddling with the locks. "Now, I know you're about to probably turn me into a rare steak dinner, but," He nudged the door open with the toe of his boot, his gaze sweeping up and down the vampire's frame, "You aren't looking so hot right now."
