Not only the crowd was calming down, they seemed enraptured by her voice. Setsuko couldn't help a wide, proud smile; she was in her element, far from self-conscious and instead relishing the attention of the crowd.

She was so focused on singing she didn't notice the manager approaching her until he addressed her directly, making her jump and causing her voice to falter momentarily, wide blue eyes fixing on the manager, giving a shaky nod at his request. Had she overstepped her boundaries? Was she gonna be kicked out of the only place she felt safe?

Regardless of the dread swirling in her stomach, she didn't stop singing, flashing the audience a blinding smile as her voice soothed her fellow patrons' nerves and helped them come down from their panic. She even sang a more lively song after that, spurring the audience to get back in their usual festive mode, and bowed gracefully when everyone erupted into a thunderous applause at the end of the song, the smile never leaving her face.

"You wanted to speak, Manager Sigma?" Setsuko asked at the entrance, her voice softer and with a hint of scratchiness, eyes downcast and a half-empty glass of champagne one of the waiters had offered her when she left the stage; she wasn't much of a drinker, but the liquid provided some much-needed relief for her throat.

((In her BSD AU, Setsuko works at the Sky Casino run by Sigma (more specifically, @archiiviis's Sigma) as an entertainer. Her Ability, The Sound Of Waves (named after Yuukio Mishima's novel of the same name), allows her to influence the emotions of her audience not only according to what she sings but also to how she feels about them: the same song might simultaneously encourage her allies and strike fear in her enemies.

Plus, when particularly scared and/or enraged, Setsuko is capable of emitting powerful high notes that can shatter glass and eardrums alike.

The downside of her Ability is that she needs to rest her voice every once in a while, otherwise she risks losing it permanently if she pushes herself too hard.))
