traditionally i use she/her but anything goes if you're brave enough (will not be offended)
i write mother fanfic and recently got into deltarune and chuck fanfic as well, i can be found here
i cannot stress this enough i do NOT know how to use tumblr properly so i apologize if i come across as a boomer/uneducated
i'm in my 20s, i like messing with computers, and obviously i like vidya games (zelda and mother are my favs of all time)
i'm generally pretty chill, just please be civil :D ask box is open and i love to yap, i will also answer your computer help questions for free bc knowledge is power
i genuinely had such a sad moment recently when i met someone in the early stages of ai psychosis
the interaction started out normal enough, she was a customer at my second job and we were discussing how to get her computer up and running again for her business, she was telling me about working as a trauma therapist, etc.
and then she said she'd asked ai about her computer problems, and i braced myself (people who do this often mess up their computers worse by running random commands in terminal/powershell that a genai model presented to them)
i was honest about my perspective on ai, but this didn't faze her at all. she laughed that it was better at her job than some of her coworkers (therapists)
within five minutes, she was telling me how she could project her consciousness across great distances to learn things about the world, and that bigender aliens would be with us in christian heaven.
she was looking at buying a new computer, and when i explained what all the specs meant, she asked chatgpt on her phone to explain them again
she asked ai how to run her business. she asked ai whether the issues with her current computer were common. she asked ai. she asked ai.
hey. so my spamton deltarune theory is that since he was big in the 90s, the "benefactor on the phone" was actually totally normal because all addisons would've been dependent on dial-up internet (aka phone lines) for information and travel. all the addisons used phones at the time to contact their server of origin. it was like getting the daily copy to serve up all the ads inside. except that spamton, being a spam email of questionable origin, was contacting a server that was serving him foreign tabloid news like gospel and he probably never questioned the deal he got with his new benefactor because his original server was scummy and sketch in the first place
i also imagine by the time his relationship with the benefactor was terminated, dial-up had been replaced by dsl/broadband in hometown, which is why the line went dead pretty much immediately
i just had the funniest encounter. two kids were selling door to door for a sports team fundraiser (like 12 years old maximum) and when i checked my doorbell notification i watched the following:
kid 2, offscreen, in a teasing voice: don't stutter!
kid 1, standing squarely on my porch holding a folder, all business: STEP OFF. unlike YOU, i do this a lot. *adjusts shoulders/posture*
anyways i bought a pizza discount card and gave them cold powerades because hello? door to door in a heatwave with THAT kinda confidence?? kid is going places for sure
today my husband woke me up to tell me his computer broke, i stumbled over half asleep and looked at it for 5 minutes and then sent him to pick up a new psu, and he provided me with chicken tenders and a very specific sweet drink i like to mix at home as payment for spending the next 6 hours on repairing his pc because i was silently fuming about my carefully considered nap and rest plans for the day (outlined yesterday) being totally ruined
no i actually can't afford an autism diagnosis sorry
they had me cover at a new location for job #2 yesterday and one of the managers (call him r) came by to introduce himself
and i was transported back in time to 2020, when i had no pain management, was a full-time student working part time retail management 30 mins under full-time hours/pulling shifts at multiple locations, and my coworker who had been promoted to store manager at one of those locations (call him g) would call me to come fix the terrible things the assistant manager r had done. like, g would call r "the reset button" because he undid any valuable work that was done at that store. every shift i worked, g would apologize that i had to come in, but explain that he was going insane pulling ot to fix r's shit
so back to last night.
i looked into the eyes of this man yesterday, r, and though i didn't remember his face, his name is not a common one. and deep down i knew he was the same guy, the reason i worked 5 shifts a week at that store, and that i did the tedious manual-scan price changes (thanks wis-based display art q4 2020 pogs, iykyk) and all the sale sets and a good chunk of distro/counts because he couldn't be assed, and that he made $4/hr more than me to sit on his ass in 2020
now, important to know is that in 2021, g and i quit that company, and g will henceforth be referred to as my husband. because he is
cue me texting my husband IMMEDIATELY after r left my presence yesterday
now if you've ever worked retail and specifically in management you will understand how insane it is to just decide to spend an extra few hours of labor for nothing, which he's done at both companies evidently
but also, at gamestop in 2020, our labor was 125 for the entire store for the week, with extra labor hours earned by exceeding revenue targets
if you do that math, two full time employees at 40 hours a week, two sgas (part time managers, of which i was one) at about 20-25 hours per week, there's NO wiggle room in labor.
so yeah he described spending 5 hours saying "fuck the planogram" as if he was the good guy, and i had to remind myself not to actually kill him because we were at a different company and retail is not my primary job anymore. crazy work r.
this isn't the first time the legend of the delta rune has come to pass
other dark worlds existed, and dess died or disappeared. asgore is aware of this. presumably, others have heard his dark world theories. carol is actively working with him to investigate the dark worlds, and giving kris direction. the onsen scene seems to imply that ralsei doesn't know how all of the events of the prophecy are supposed to come to be, but that kris is apparently brute-forcing it by opening the dark worlds themself.
if ralsei's memories were somehow reset, and kris was attempting to repeat the prophecy and obtain a "better ending" than whatever made dess meet some sort of tragic fate, getting her back in the process--probably the same fate we saw for (very likely) susie in the prophecy window--not only would that explain why the soul was intercepted after the creation of the vessel (so that kris could have some modicum of control over the actions of the protagonist, making sure nothing non-carol-approved happened), but it would also correlate to undertale
since undertale was initially a 'prototype' of deltarune that borrowed some of its elements and basic ideas, and undertale pretty prominently featured a tragedy created by chara trying to force the prophecy to come true by their own actions
and also, kris pretty obviously depends on the player soul to survive, implying they no longer have their own (may have been sacrificed for a 'second chance' after the 'bad ending' re: undertale genocide)
anyways, just saying. love found the girl, dess dated asriel and we have evidence of that. and maybe kris is intervening before the soul makes the same 'mistakes' that killed or otherwise incapacitated dess
there's probably a million holes in this but. spaghetti. wall. throw.
(we know multiple humans were involved in the creation of the barrier thanks to 10th anniversary stream--perhaps seven?)
and,
and all i'm saying is, the voice that speaks to you when you die in deltarune is pretty widely accepted to be the guy who was trying to figure out how to get the monsters out of the underground before alphys took that job. the guy who we're pretty sure has something to do with sans's ability to travel between worlds.
i could see him fabricating a world, and a plot, in a simulation, to attract an otherworldly entity who could potentially help him learn more about the nature of the barrier and how to destroy it. a new pair of eyes, so to speak, with a prophecy intriguing enough to keep the player coming back. but his creation was too complex, too realistic, and the characters intervened and developed free will.
nobody chooses who they are because nobody was supposed to be anybody at all. but in terms of which world reflects how undertale works better, it is, no question, the dark world. and i don't think we talk about that enough
also you may want to check out this post of mine from last year for additional context as to why i think hometown isn't real and gaster built deltarune as a sandbox to study the barrier, anyways here goes
first of all, i don't believe sans is from deltarune. i think because he works closely with gaster, he is "employed" in some sense to help monitor the simulation. if the player attempts to spy on noelle and susie on the ferris wheel, kris instead thinks about sans, and how he didn't operate the ferris wheel last year; susie comments after the dark world (normal route) or while roaming town (weird route) if you interact with sans's house that the house is new and she doesn't remember it being there very long.
it's very possible that this is not the first time sans has done this sort of work, since he is skilled at remaining aloof and not disclosing many details (masking with humor when probed), and because he seems to want to keep mementos of the place(s) he's worked (wrt the "don't forget" drawing).
now that we know SO MUCH MORE about the game from weird route, i do think something between the end of chapter 6 and the beginning of chapter 7 is going to involve acknowledging that the world is a simulation and intentionally boundary-breaking, potentially to access a dark world under the lake that we're not yet supposed to see.
why else would there be two sides to chapter 7? you either intentionally break the world by playing the weird route and escaping hometown with noelle, or you play through the prophecy/plot as intended and reach the same location maybe one chapter later, with a different set of characters.
this was just... unexpected, this time.
the visual glitching during the wr lake scene isn't harsh/pixelated like it should be to visually match other wr exclusive elements. it's fuzzy, like an analog display. and the edge of the prompt is curved. in chapter 5 weird route, we are suddenly aware this is all happening on a crt monitor.
i don't think they died. or if they did, it caused an error that required data from another disk to resolve.
and i do think the same boundary break is going to happen in the normal route, because the entirety of chapter 5 is spent pushing ralsei to start questioning the prophecy and not blindly follow the dictates of a very strictly defined story. ralsei is practically married to the prophecy, until this chapter pushes him to question that position.
these are two instances of broken progression in chapter 5. both of them taking kris's hands, walking the player beyond where they can normally go.
the 'one ending' of deltarune is breaking the simulation, entering a dark world (reality) without being led there, and discovering who has masterminded this entire thing. whether it's noelle or ralsei that lets go of their scripted role and goes for broke, that is the difference between a and b.
hometown isn't real and chapter 7 is going to focus on that.
(also, for bonus points, if you did read the mother theory--i think the dark world they "break into" is going to be what should've been chapter 8, to match mother 3; and sans's bread is a reference to the mother 1 breadcrumb glitch, credit to @deepfrieddeltarunememes for a post that alerted me to this; and also a lab under the lake is just a perfect mother 1 reference)
wow, I also like finding a gravestone and descending a staircase under it to rescue a very powerful girl who gains experience and strength very quickly alongside you while grinding enemies and...
actually fucking evil I think the Bread item being "required" for Weird Route progression might be a direct reference to the Breadcrumb glitch
The Breadcrumb Glitch is a glitch in mother 1 where you can use the ripped girl, Pippi, to perform a glitch using an item called Breadcrumbs.
It gets you out of bounds in an area that looks like this:
which looks almost exactly like the evil place you can see from the Forgotten Island.
and using the Breadcrumb Glitch in Mother 1 you can skip a large portion of the game.
you will recognize this reference in this context as being evil evil evil evil FUCKING evil
but my question is, if what happened at the end of the weird route can still result in a Chapter 7 side B being possible, what the fuck happens in the regular Chapter 7 side A?
so are we gonna talk about how flowery pisses ralsei off because he looks after himself first and does things for the good of the people he cares about, and wants to preserve the well being of his loved ones over the "big picture", and refuses to conform to the prophecy. he is everything ralsei won't let himself be. and flowery seems to understand exactly what effect that has, continually pushing ralsei's buttons until ralsei starts to also break continuity.
are we gonna talk about how the same darkner who spent a good chunk of chapter 1 going "if we're just nice to susie maybe she'll participate in puzzles!" and has explained how he is nothing next to a lightner is now the one breaking puzzles, openly disagreeing with not only a lightner but a hero of prophecy (even if ralsei is timid about it!), and using magic that doesn't "fit his role".
are we gonna talk about how flowery brings out the "worst" in ralsei (by ralsei's own perception) and represents everything ralsei is afraid of being.
ralsei inherited the image of asriel from the day that dr chap 1 dropped and flowery represents his 'other side' the same way flowey was made up of every darkness that grew inside asriel.
ralsei is eating cake and wearing a dress and casting fire magic and acting without command from kris.
ralsei realized this chapter that not everything is in the prophecy he knows (re: the second set of pages).
ralsei really really wanted that blue and pink drink coupon. flowery knows him and called him 'princess'.
head in hands my beautiful ralsei please don't do anything that's going to shatter the prophecy because you're scared
podcasts could have been so good but they decided to make the main genres True Crime and Men Talking. shut up shut up the public yearns for audio dramas
i do appreciate how tumblr LOVES podcasts that aren't what most people think of when they think "podcast." you people love strange and terrible things happening to queer & confused characters, and i respect that
hey so i did finally regain access to my vyvanse and escape the hell that was "busy season of my job keeping me at work until anywhere from 7pm to 1am" so here's a couple teasers for those of you who have been waiting for me to follow up on ideas or in progress fics
twbafia (mother 1 fic):
burn in au (deltarune spamtenna):
the as of yet unseen mettatenna project i haven't titled (deltarune):
rest assured work IS being done lol. i've just moved twice in six months and my anti-distraction writing device (an old ass laptop that is not safe to connect to the internet and can't run more than 1-2 programs at a time; her name is girlboss grandma) has been packed up with my other computers while in a state of transition. and also a lot of other stuff has been happening. yeah AAAANYWAYS
