Rumi used to be a bad hugger, like really bad.
Look her and Celine aren't the touchiest people. They dont hesitate to touch each other but they don't naturally get all over each other, they're both too emotionally unavailable for thatm Celine's more an awkward pat on the back type father figure.
Celine will open her arms and 50/50 if Rumi takes the invitation for a hug but that kinda slows down around lile 13-14 for Rumi.
That is to say Rumi is a bad hugger and Celine never really corrected her.
The first few times Mira and Zoey hug her she just kinda stands there arm limp at her sides overthinking what to do, and the other two write it off as her being unused to anyone but Celine and non professional for the cameras contact.
And Rumi knows like objectively what to do but she's so awkward and her hands just kinda... hover
Eventually Mira is like "you know you're supposed to hug back, right?" And Rumi is all like "oh no what if they think I'm evil and hate them?" And hugs back only for it to be atrocious hug form. Hands at their ribs like she's carrying a fucking box.
And Mira doesnt notice anything wrong because she's also unused to hugs but Zoey does and freaks out because she thinks Rumi hates touching her.
So Zoey goes to Mira and is like "Mira I think Rumi thinks I'm weird and gross :(" and Mirs is like "???" because that doesn't sound like Rumi at all, Rumi adores Zoey. And Zoey is like "she hugs me like she can't stand me!" And Mira knows Rumi hugs her the same way she hugs Zoey and is like "nah she just hugs like that, its probably a misunderstanding idk man"
And eventually Zoey cannot handle not knowing so she goes to Rumi and asks if she hates how touchy she is and Rumi is confused because she could never hate anything about Zoey and Zoey explains and Rumi feels awful and she explains and like Rumi takes fixing her hugs so seriously.
Her YouTube and Google history is just "people hugging" a thousand times and like its still awkward but her arms wrap around them now and she slowly but surely hugs like a normal fucking person.
And the affection is so natural now, and Rumi isn't as much of a weirdo about it but Mira still will tease her and remind her to wrap her arms around and not hold her hands awkwardly at their sides before they bring it in fr.
