prompt: song type fic-lets for the song ‘this is home’ by cavetown
requested: nope, just soft for my lane
warnings: none, just sad austin
this is mainly focused on austin, not the reader, its just a vent type beat :)
‘are you tired of me yet’
austin sat in his room, his eyes tracing the tapestry that hung on his ceiling for the tenth time. he picked at his nails, they were reduced to stumps now. his eyes snapped to the door as it opened slowly, smiling slightly as you stuck your head in the room.
‘hi bubba’ you smiled and walked fully in the room, a bag in your hands as you close the door behind you.
‘hi’ his voice gave out on him, making him wince. you raised your eyebrows, walking towards and sitting on the side of the bed. you reached out and ran a hand through austin’s hair, his eyes closing shut at the feeling of your freshly manicured nails scratching his scalp. you put the bag on the ground before slipping your shoes off and sliding onto the bed, your back pressing against the headboard.
‘c’mere’ you mumbled, holding your arms out. he sighed softly, moving up and wrapping his arms around your waist loosely. his head rested on your lap while his legs curled up to slightly intertwine with yours. you bit your leg slightly, not knowing exactly what to say to the sensitive boy. you put one of your hands in his hair, and the other splayed over his back. ‘the boys told me you’ve been stuck up here since the interview’ he hummed softly, his grip tensing. ‘talk to me bubs’
‘its stupid y/n’ his lips brushed against your thigh as he spoke, ‘its just an off day’ you nodded softly. you went to speak again before his broken voice spoke up a last time, ‘please don’t get tired of me’ he closed his eyes after saying it. you tilted your head, looking down at him.
‘i could never get tired of you a, you’re the best thing to happen to me’ you began to run your hand through the dark strands of his hair, ‘you don’t have to talk to me about it, but i’m here and the boys are here, we all want you to be happy.’ he set a chaste kiss on your thigh, his eyes falling shut. you smiled down at him, leaning down and returning a kiss on his pulse point.
‘his mind is in a different place
will everybody please give him a little bit of space’
you were watching austin and the boys film their music video for no more. it was a week after austin had expressed his fear of you leaving so you made sure to keep a close eye on him, and for a good reason as you could see him gradually get more uneasy as the shoot went on. his eyes darted around the room, seeming to pinpoint all possible exit routes while he popped all of knuckles twice. he placed a fist on his chest, leaning back, only to bump into nick who placed a hand on the older boys bicep.
‘hey you good?’ nick pulled austin down slightly to speak in his ear, instantly panicking as austin ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head. the other boys glanced over as he coughed out as an attempt to breathe correctly, only succeeding in half ass breaths which just aggravated him. you had made your way over to them, grasping onto his forearm, tugging him into you. he leaned down, placing his head in your neck and his arms around your waist. you looked up to see nick getting the crew and extras out of the rooms and the other guys watching their oldest band mate fall apart.
‘i-i cant brea-’ you pulled away from him, his eyes sparked with fear as he kept trying to drag a breath in.
‘hey, hey’ you pulled one of his hands off his chest, and grabbed zion wrist, pulling him to take your place standing in front of austin. zion looked down at you, scared and confused as he had no clue what to do, despite how much he wanted to help. you took austin’s hand and placed it over zion’s heart, and then put zion’s hand over austin’s. ‘feel his heartbeat, and see his breaths. try and copy him’ you looked up at zion, pushing a braid behind your ear, ‘if you have to, exaggerate your breathing, try and get him on your level, please.’ you then looked at the other boys who stood there, wanting to go up and help their friend. ‘uh, edwin, come with me to talk about finishing this tomorrow, and others, just make sure you give him space. but when he is fully calm,’ you spared a glance at the faux blonde to see that his forehead was rested on zion’s shoulder, his hair forming a curtain around his face, ‘just talk to him, normally. don’t stress him.’ they all nodded, but you saw the uncertainty. brandon was tugging at the lock chain that hung around his neck, nick was switching weight between his legs and zion had taken to resting a hand in the elder boys hair. you placed a kiss on austin’s shoulder before going to the crew to basically demand a break be put on the shoot.
slowly, tracing his face
but, strangely he feels at home in this place
all of you were sitting in the living room together after the ordeal, a nightmare before christmas playing on the tv. brandon and maggie lay on the floor, their laptops open and busy. neviah sat on one of the couches, leaning against the arm while edwin lay on the same couch, his head on neviah’s lap. zion was sat on the floor, leaning against a couch, his head tilted back resting on edwin’s legs. then lay you and austin on the other couch, he lay on top of you, his arms around your waist securely. his head was on your chest, and your hands worked on carefully braiding his hair back. his eyes were fluttering shut, his lashes brushing against his cheekbones. you were taking in his features as he laid to rest. you looked up as someone referred to you.
‘you okay?’ you looked around, you’re eyes stopping at maggie, who you had gotten insanely close to since you started dating austin. she had sat up and turned, eyes scanning your face. you nodded, swallowing before going to talk.
‘yeah, yeah’ you looked back down at austin, ‘not sure what to think’ you smiled dryly before looking back up at her, everyone looking up at you now.
‘is this,’ nick paused, running his hand down his face, ‘normal? i’ve seen him anxious before but hes never had a full blown attack.’ the other guys mumbled in agreement. you opted for taking the small braids apart as you answered.
‘no, i mean, i hate saying this’ your sentence broke off to a sigh, ‘i think hes just been going through this by himself.’ everyone tilted their heads, urging you to explain. ‘the day he disappeared in his room, after the interview, he talked about it a little, saying he didn’t want anyone to leave him.’ pain flashed through all of the boys eyes, a stone settling at the bottom of their stomachs. ‘so just, please, be there for him, as much as you can. without making him feel like an anxiety case.’ they nodded and realized that you were giving signs that the conversation was over as you looked back down to the boy on your chest. he smiled subconsciously as you traced your fingers across his jaw, trailing it up to his cheek. you pressed a kiss to his temple before allowing yourself to drift.
i love making the boys soft for each other so you’ll see that a lot. i’ve had a lot of free time which is the reason for my third post of the week.
love y’all for the support, hope you liked this one
