AI is like a hammer, it is a tool with many potential of use. However, the one using it are producing it with iron from they steal from a colony somewhere. Not just that, they're using those iron only to create more warhammer to further oppress the people they steal the iron from.
A hammer could be a tool of creation, yet in their narrow mindedness they're only using it as a tool of destruction and oppression.
And now there are people demonizing the hammer. Hating it just because everyone is. Shunning it without realizing its potential.
But it's just a tool. And it's should be regarded as such.
But just like any other tools, there are rules on how to use it properly and acceptably.
And this is the problem AI has. The rules (if any) are not comprehensive enough or specific enough.
There are things that are obvious it's bad of course. And there are that's good.
Yes! A hammer should be used to create more hoes, shovel, and help build houses! No! Hammer should not be used to kill someone!
It is cool that AI are helping in the field of research. But it's not cool to used it to steal other's work. The thing is, these two AI are two different things. Like a smithing hammer and war hammer.
As long as the tool exists, there will be people using it. Each with varying degree of purpose and goal. With no proper regulations, there will be cases of misuse that impact negatively.
Well the thing is... our ruling class are (for various reasons including I don't want to die or get my family suffers injustice, I'm adding 'seemingly' ) intentionally inhibiting such proper regulations to be made.
Well, that was my two cents anyway. This may hold some hole, but I'll be glad if we could have a dignified discourse to patch those holes (rather that crazily shouting at each other).
I'll be honest with you, I hate how AI is used in the mainstream. I hate how my peer are using it for their assignment (at least do a Google search damt it. Not like it'll do much now). I hate how my family are using it willy-nilly (yes it's cute and pretty and wonderful Aunty, but that 'ghibli style' shit is a mockery to the spirit of art). And I hate how people are hating it as a whole, blindly generalizing it as 'harmful thing'/'are a thing to hate' as a whole.
It's not like it's a true AI anyway, it's just an algorithm. AGI is the true AI, now that's a sapient being. But algorithm is a tool, capable of good and great thing. It has help advancing various fields of science, and it'll still be in the future if we wields it right.
Why is it like this though. Why are we human possess incredible knowledge yet holds so little wisdom. Why is some of use have little to no empathy nor sympathy at all, so utterly individualistic in their way of life.
