DP WEARING A WHAT WOULD SPIDEY DO WRISTBAND
I know it’s ridiculous, but the “person carrying an absurd and improbable number of weapons must remove them all (to the bewilderment of those around them)” trope is still one of the best tropes of all time.
“I can kill everything… and I need him to stop me.”

FINALLY I GET TO SHARE THIS PICTURE
1996 - Tintin in Tibet (SNES)
Had the displeasure of trying to play Tintin in Tibet for SNES, with @fourthdslip present to watch the agony. An absolutely brutal game that, after watching a longplay, had me determine that I would never beat this thing, and I gave up pretty quickly. Anything and everything makes Tintin take damage: packages, kids running into him, leaves, even praying monks in a monastery. Everything and everyone is out to kill Tintin in this game, and he can only take four hits. Golden apples are sparse; they only heal a single life point and are often so out of the way that you'll probably lose a life point, either on the way or returning from the apple fetch. It's pure reflex and memory, with no save states in the middle of the level, should you fail. Instead, you are given a password every few levels to save your progress.
As if this weren't stressful enough, every level has a timer. It doesn't matter how long or taxing the level is. Every level has a timer. Failure to complete the level within the amount of time set is an instant game over, and you lose a life. Speaking of lives, 1-UPs are rare to come by, with the first not even coming in until several levels into the game. Same with the golden timer, an item which restores less than a fourth of your clock's time (and is sometimes just as much of a hassle to retrieve as the golden apple). Some levels are very big, but you have little time to explore, requiring you to optimize your travel as much as possible to proceed to the next level. You must run, dodge, puzzle, spelunk, slide, and swim your way to finding Chang, with every single level presenting unique challenges. While you mostly play as Tintin, there are a few mountain climbing sections where you will also play as Captain Haddock.
Here are the game over screens, which most players will very quickly become acquainted with:
Professor Calculus looks a little uncanny, but the full on game over screen is just brutal. You failed... Chang is frozen out there because you let some jar at the market give you a concussion. I did get this perfect GIF out of the experience, though. He can run to the foreground. That's fun.
The soundtrack is also great, I recommend listening to it! Big fan of The Wreck.
As for the visuals of the game, the graphics are actually pretty neat! it's just a shame that the game itself is so punishing. Here is the longplay I watched since I still wanted to see what it had in store. Thanks user orugari for toughing it out.
The Budgerigar Burglars
"A little birdie told me something..."
@professorcalculusstanaccount, thank you for doing the promotional/cover art of the story!! I would also like to thank them for bouncing ideas with me and subsequently proof/beta reading chapter 1 ― they’ve been very supportive and encouraging.
While I was unable to post on the actual dates I set up due to some personal reasons on my end, I will *hopefully* have it out sooner or later.
As a sort of teaser 2, here’s the first 101 words of The Budgerigar Burglars by @professorcalculusstanaccount and me, Jo :> !
We came up with an AU where Snowy is a human and Tintin is his pet cockatiel that drags him into ridiculous situations!
Bobbie Milou is extremely observant and insightful, but as a mute elderly man who struggles with alcoholism, people rarely bother listening to him.
Tintin, his emotional support bird, takes his job seriously, though his methods are unconventional to say the least.

SRRY MY RESPONSE LATE ASF but i was looking for this to so thought id add it ,,,
i'm absolutely in love with the textures in your art!! what brushes do you use? ^.^
Thank you so much!! I’m very glad the texture looks good ^ ^ I think the secret really is just to draw with textured brush than adding texture later (I do add paper texture overlay from true grit after finish the art sometimes though!)
Faithfully reproduce the tactile imperfections of Risograph printing in Photoshop, Procreate, Clip Studio Paint and Affinity Photo.
I use this brush for painting- it’s by True Grit, and I use some of their other brushes for occasional different textures (like the smoke here) but 99% of the time I solely use this brushset + procreate pencil for details/outlines, and procreate pencil for line work!
(This is made with triple engraver from another brush set of theirs called the rusty nib, but as you can see unlike rizzcraft you can recreate this effect easily)
I was going to make a tiny tutorial/process note on how I use the brushset because I use it wrong (the set is intended to recreate riso print texture, but I don’t really count percentage like if you’re doing actual riso) but I got sick this week, so I’ll do that if I have time and reblog this with it :)
I did upload a process vid on Instagram, and feel free to check that out too! It’s basically bright under painting + color overlays only using the rizzcraft brushes. Also the brushes are much cheaper on Black Friday sales and that’s when I bought this :)
