Half way through 7th year James and Sirius find themselves in a full-fledged fight about who the best kisser is because one night after a particularly successful day in Hogsmeade, Sirius comes strutting into the common room , a triumphant look on his face. And James can’t stand it so here they are now. Sirius claims that the decision could be made right then and there if James would allow him to kiss Lilly but
“No way Pads. She wouldn’t be a fair judge since she’d clearly choose me.”
Although Sirius had the sneaking suspision that James was slightly nervous about Lilly choosing Sirius as the best kisser.
It got to the point where sirius attempted to kiss every girl that he knew James had and seeing what their verdict was. This got severely out of hand when, thinking he was Marlene, Sirius sat down next to Peter whose nose was stuck in a book. Next moment there is a very shaken Sirius Black screaming bloody murder because
“I ALMOST KISSED WORMTAIL, PRONGS!!!!”
and a snickering Remus Lupin in the corner secretly wishing it had been him Sirius had tried to kiss. Wait what? No, bad Moony, Remus thought to himself.
Finally, Sirius had had enough.
“Prongs, I demand we find a neutral party and settle this once and for all”
And then there is a very smug looking James who says
“Fine, how about Moony? He’s already kissed me so all he’d have to do is kiss you and make a decision.”
From behind his book, Remus can be seen blushing furiously. Whether it be from the outed drunken dare or the prospect of kissing Sirius, James couldn’t tell. Although he suspected the latter.
Sirius, a little flustered but refusing to let it show, stands up to his full height and marches over to Remus who looks much too eager for his own good.
Remus slowly stands to meet Sirius, shaking slightly. The next thing he knows, Sirius had Remus’ face cupped in his hands and is on his tiptoes leaning in. After what feels like an eternity, their lips finally meet and it’s tender and sweet and “holy shit I’m kissing Moony!” and it’s absolutely everything. Remus’ hands find their way to Sirius’ hips, clutching him closer and the kiss deepens. It’s absolute magic and Remus swears there are literal sparks floating above them.
They come apart and just stare at each other because finally, after all this time. And it doesn’t even matter that it happened trying to prove a point because that kiss said everything neither of them physcially could.
James and Lilly are in the corner just fangirling over the two and a very audible “Finally,’ can be heard from Peter sitting awkwardly in the chair next to them.
“Sirius” Remus breathes out
“No, Sirius is the best kisser.”
“Couldn’t have just taken the nice moment could you Moony,” James sighed, shaking his head at his best friends.
