Journey to a new Community

Today in a KIK BDsM group the topic of the day was Tumblrs announcement about removing adult content. Tumblrs bullshit attempt at making Tumblr a safe space for all has shoot the BDsM community hard. We are upset, angry, some feel lost. Others feel as if their whole lives have been attacked. The uncertainty of right here and right now is what is most upsetting. Where to go? Will you be able to find the bloggers that you rely on for your laughs, education and erotic expression? Uncertainty is always upsetting. I won’t lie and I won’t hide it. Tumblr made the announcement yesterday I felt that’s if the rug had got pulled out from underneath me and I was Free falling.I came to Tumblr in February completely lost and alone. I had just really began to question my identity and quickly I found a place where I belong. I found the @instructor144 ‘s blog and then 1-sadistic-lovers and I was hungry for knowledge. I read everything I could read reblogged and began to form a tight-knit network of others like me. I found a place where I could be me.

What I loved is the openness what I love is the realness of what I saw and read. Look BEYOND the porn. You see the real people. The real people living BDsM. You can read about their struggles. Their successes. Their love. I saw a polyamory relationship bloom and grow and when asked to help @danipup move we DONATED! We shared. We banned together to help make that happen. We celebrate milestones. We send each other support when struggling mentally or when fighting cancer. The support in this community is unwavering and so incredible. Countless blogs are there for those that are having a hard time. That one message they send that blog could be the difference between ending their life that day and holding on. I love this community because we promote SAFE. Being SAFE in BDsM is so important. So many blogs are there to answer our questions. To help us clear the clouds when life gets too confusing. So many people share their experiences and some of these experiences save lives. The BDsm community self monitors! We call out the trolls, the wannabe users and pedos. We flag blogs that share child porn. That safety net is HUGE.

Tumblrs decision has made it so that we will not be able to see each others NSFW blogs. This means I can’t go on Daddy’s blog and scan back months to find those sweet secret posts he made for me to find and the public to see. I won’t be able to see the first post I commented on his blog that brought us together. My journey into the lifestyle, my visual record could be gone. I don’t for one minute believe that our blogs are safe. That they will be turned to private and we will still be able to use them. Blogs have been disappearing for WEEKS. Content that is VANILLA is being flagged on NSFW blogs. Finding a new home is needed.  

I went over to Kinkspace and set up a new home. I think that they’re upgrading their servers because they know they’re about to get slammed with a bunch of users from Tumblr. I made a post last night at Tumblr Tagging my favorite bloggers and letting them know where I was headed. I was very happy to see a bunch of requests for friends. Having to set up a new home somewhere is scary. Moving is scary. The uncertainty of who’s coming and who’s not.

Right this very minute I feel lost but this time I’m not ALONE. I think we all feel like we’re in free fall. We’re sad we’re angry. But the positive we have each other.. And we’re going to find a place that all of us plus the countless others on Tumblr who are going to lose their blogs , can call home. The community on Tumblr was an accidental creation. Together we can create a strong, tight-knit, supportive and inclusive community somewhere. We can do this because we have each other.

Let’s do this! Let’s create a new HOME for the Tumblr community. Some place where we are welcome as well as the content of our lives. I say LIVES because our blogs represent us. They can take away our blog but they cannot TAKE AWAY our LIVES! Let’s make our new home AMAZING!
