I do think Gwayne becoming a bit of a goody two shoes is foreshadowing for him losing his shit later on when he arrives at Tumbleton and finds out Daeron got turned into a mini Ormund. Ormund doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that really gives a shit about "honor" and all of that. He's just there to get the job done, and to hold his position as the head of one of the most powerful and oldest families in Westeros. And now, he's got an ace up his sleeve in the form of Daeron.
