Yoichi blinked as the girl fired off an apology, seemingly embarrassed that he’d snapped at her. He felt just a little bad, only because he hadn’t meant to be quite so crass. A small sigh escaped his lips as she continued to prattle on, he rested his chin in his hand as he waited for her to stop. Her apologies quickly turned into her singing the song in question – he suddenly very much regretted asking her what she had been humming – and then embarrassing herself further with another apology. He felt a bit of second hand embarrassment himself.
“Well…that was something.” He quickly turned his attention back to his cards and reshuffled the deck. Carefully pulling out two cards, he leaned them against one another to begin rebuilding his house. “I’ve never heard that song before. It was kinda cute.” A small smile crossed his face for a moment before he returned to one of extreme concentration. Once they stood upright, he placed another two cards next to them.
“I didn’t matter to me if you gave me your name one way or another, but since you brought it up my name is Yoichi. You can call my Yoich or Yo-Yo or Chi or really any nickname your heart desires, I don’t care.” With his concentration renewed he was building much faster now, and managed to throw down his foundation layer of cards before moving onto the next row. His eyes darted back up to meet hers. “So then your name is…?”
:: With the little conversation Furi had as of late she wasn’t quite sure if she was talking the appropriate amount or talking too much or too little. But, the again, she wasn’t quite sure of anything. Lately, her memory had been vague as if she were recalling someone else’s life within her own thoughts, there was a distance there she could not yet lessen. There were spots of clarity like anything related to her sister and the inn she lived in but there was a point where all things ended and with that finality there was a certain sense of dread looming beyond. But that was neither here nor there, and certainly not something she would bring up to the other although she had turned it over often in her thoughts.
Watching as he built up the cards, Furi smiled. The nicknames sounded adorable but she wasn’t sure she’d have the courage to call him anything but his name. If she could then... “If I could call you anything then it’d be fitting to call you Ichi since you’d be my first friend here.” Furi breathed a chuckle before realizing that she had actually mused her thoughts aloud. The red crept up again on her cheeks and she attempted to draw attention away from herself by steering the conversation elsewhere. “I-” She started sharply. “I’m Taira, Furi but you can call me Furi, that is if you’d like! Um, s-so I’ve never seen someone do that with cards. That’s pretty interesting!”
