me: The Star Wars Prequels expanded on the Star Wars universe, showing us more worlds and their politics. We got to see the Jedi at their prime, at their best and worst. They showed us more context for why the Empire existed and came to be and why there was a rebellion. Worldbuilding aside, the prequels showed us Anakin Skywalker's rise and fall. They showed us he was not a monster, not inherently evil, but that he was a scared child led astray. Anakin is shown as inherently a loving person, loving his mother, Padme, and Obi-Wan so much. We are shown a reason why Luke believes his father has good in him and can be saved. Darth Vader becomes a more tragic character once we learn of Anakin's fall. Luke's story is given more context, especially as the one who brings balance to the Force. We see how Luke and Leia are similar to their parents, strengthening their characterization and connection. While the Prequels weren't perfect, they brought new ideas to the table and strengthened old ideas.

Me: oh shit you're right, my mistake
