I was recently afforded the opportunity to attend a doc screening and album premiere event hosted by 623 Entrainment for Traum Diggs’s newest album, Major Journalism. The premiere started off with a documentary of Traum and the making of the album, to include footage of him in the recording booth, the producer conducting live sessions with the albums instrumentalist, and him explaining his passion for music. The short documentary was followed with him performing the album live. Getting to know a bit more about Traum, you have to respect his passion for music. Having volunteered to be laid off from his job, which was in the process of letting people go, he emerged back in his craft and hasn’t looked back since. Traum’s delivery reminds me of the early essence of Hip-Hop, while his performance technique makes him relatable to today’s Hip-Hop scene. Because his production is not what today’s trend of heavy 808 bass and digital snare are, and his lyrical content wasn’t, in my opinion, aimed to please the masses, he easily reminded me of Talib Kweli or Lupe Fiasco. Traum is a pioneer and his art of story telling gives him the ability to draw his listeners into what he has to say. Another aspect of Traum that I find notable was the fact that he performed with a live band, which is what I feel like a lot of artists lack, especially those in Hip-Hop. This aspect made Traum Diggs’ artistry more respectable. Needless to say, I purchased his album and can’t wait to go give it a listen. Check out some of the photos below, and check out the rest of the photos in the Facebook album named “M Pire Covers Major Journalism Doc Screening and Album Premiere”.

AudioBioGraphic is the once scrapped EP from Traum Diggs. We decided to let a few tracks from the original project go to give the people something while Diggs finishes up his album.
