Boundary post regarding my personal DMs
This by no means is so to embarrass or out anyone but I’ve noticed a spike in people realizing they can just randomly DM me on here. I understand if you’d like to talk to me or tell me something but unless it’s something of like the upmost importance, please just forward it into my tumblr ask box, I even have anonymous on so if you don’t feel comfortable or such revealing it’s you sending stuff in that’s fine too I get it so that’s why I have anonymous on.
The only reasons why I would be ok with you personally messaging me is because:
You’re a friend or at least a mutual of mine.
Maybe it’s something you’re not comfortable with being publicly shown, I’ve had people in the past who’ve sent fanart and other such things via DM because they’re just not comfortable with it being seen publicly, which is fine!
Maybe you want to confront me on something I’ve said, sometimes I post or text without thinking and sometimes I don’t realize how I’ve worded something can come off uncomfortable or even rude so I’m fine with you DMing me saying something like “hey what you said came off negatively” like do tell me if I come off like that! because I assure you I don’t mean to!!
What not to message me for:
Just to ask how I am, like yes I do appreciate if you’re concerned or just curious but I assure you that you can simply just put it in my ask box, I don’t bite.
“Please follow me/please follow me back/ect” I can guarantee this will not get you a follow.
Anything regarding AI or gross comments, I’m strictly against AI and why would you message a random 19yr old gross stuff??
Hate, unless it’s to call me out on something I may have accidentally done, don’t message me just to be rude to me.
This is a reminder that I am a random 19yr old on the internet, I’m not just some random peer who works or attends the same school as you. Most of you have never seen my face or heard my voice so please don’t act like we’ve known each other since kindergarten because I assure you we haven’t.
I also understand that some of you are just kids who mean well, don’t get me wrong we were all kids as well at some point who probably accidentally came off wrong but meant well, just don’t DM a random stranger unless you know them or you’re both comfortable with it, the internet is a scary place for minors.
If there really is something you want to tell or ask please just use the tumblr ask box that’s at the top of my page otherwise just don’t DM unless it’s something of absolutely importance.
And I know I sound hypocritical for letting friends and mutuals DM me but that’s because I’m personally more comfortable with them, this isn’t to say that just because I don’t follow you that you’re not cool or anything, you most likely are totally awesome!! Just don’t randomly DM for no reason.
Again this is about the comfortability and safety of both myself and anyone who would like to interact with me.
I’m sorry that I had to make this post but I’d appreciate if random people wouldn’t just abuse my DMs just cause they realized you can text people.
