religion is so fucking funny the world is just too beautiful there must be a higher entity behind all this. lets oppress women
i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!

Why do people still say “this doesn’t fit my blog theme but I had to reblog anyway”? It’s almost 2018. Who gives a fuck. Who even has a coherent blog anymore
Reblog if you’ve never had a coherent blog and got no intention of starting that shit now
THE LONE SURVIVOR🦹🧟
first thing id do as a skeleton is drink red wine from a goblet and have it spill out everywhere . second thing id do is play my ribs like a xylophone
Unkown date and location.
Good morning! It’s been a while since my last post. I’m still alive, just busy.
One of the few creative things that I have been able to do is a collaborative OC creation project, inspired by the video “10 Artists Create a Cast of Characters Without Communicating!” by Stormyth.
After getting permission from the original creator, we selected 8 tropes between 4 people, and decided on our theme. The eight tropes were The Protagonist, The Protagonist’s Ally, The Mentor, The Love Interest, The Villain, The Villain’s Ally, The One Who Haunts the Narrative, and The Creature/Monster.
The theme my friends and I chose was a world where several alien factions had crash-landed on medieval Earth in the Mediterranean region.
Character 1: The Protagonist.
Willkin is a mercenary knight who has become renowned as a hero as he has traveled through various nations. However, Wilkin hides his face from everyone he knows because he’s not a noble. He’s not even human.
Originally an alien engineer on one of his faction’s ships. His dress, name, gender presentation, and behavior were adopted after landing on Earth, and he began to adapt to his new world.
The concept I had in mind was that he came from a shape-shifting species with the ability to adapt to different environments over several years. I chose to make a humanoid alien, but I tried to take inspiration from many sea-based organisms, especially cuttlefish, which can be alien when compared to human biology. Another source of inspiration was slime mold, which moves and changes shape according to its environment.
Wilkin’s story on Earth started after the spacefaring ship he worked on was attacked, and he ended up landing in some thick woods in the anglosphere. The low-level engineer crawled into the armor of a deceased knight nearby, using it as protection while he gradually explored and studied his new environment.
Although born into a non-gonochoric species, after his body started to mimic that of humans, he began to resemble a man and adopt the social behaviors of one. While no one group’s life was especially easy in the Medieval era, men did have it slightly better than women, so his adaptability assumed that of a male human.
His armor components are mismatched from different cultures and time periods, being a mixture of different pieces he’s scavenged through his adventures. The gray bands in his skin are implants forced on him by his old life’s engineering position. They allow him some control of nearby metal, allowing him additional security to keep his armor on almost at all times.
I see one of Wilkin’s main struggles not only as the fights that he wins or battles that he overcomes but also as the fact that he’s running from his past. He would be challenged by a need to care less about the glory and fun of his experience—landing on Earth ended up being the best thing that happened to him, going from a cog in a machine to a champion figure in his adopted culture—and more about the people he’s grown to care about.
There will come a time when he will need to embrace and share both his past in the stars and the human he has become to protect people he cares about, and I imagine more ideas will come to mind as I see the characters my friends made!
Character 2: Villainous Henchman
In contrast with the video inspiring this project, everyone was given two characters to design. In this case, I wanted to give my second assignment some foiling characteristics with Wilkin. I imagine the two’s relationship would be distant. She is more in opposition to what he is than to who he is.
Ruthanne is the Villainous Henchman. She is a human from a merchant-class background who has become an alien technology expert and dealer.
Her first outfit is based on some contemporary artwork I liked, including some triangle iconography as a reference to her engineering implants. They are the same Wilkin’s, implanted after she reconstructed the appropriate surgical technology. Her second outfit was inspired by various pieces of vintage sci-fi art.
I also like to put a bit of myself in all of my villains an often find my villains reflect me more so than my protagonists. I’m giving her my hair, and perhaps my more reserved nature.
The arrival of the alien factions would have been the worst thing that ever happened to Ruthanne, but also the most defining aspect of the person she is now. Her neighborhood and household were destroyed by a crashed ship, killing her family and destroying much of her family’s onsite contracts and possessions.
From the wreckage, she uncovered a series of artefacts, including several computers. Ruthanne was well-educated by tutors and teachers in a skillset she would have never been able to publicly use as a woman, but the world has turned upside down. She uses her intelligence to sell information as well as reconstructed technology.
Ruthanne is self-interested to the extent of not taking any unplanned risks, hence why she’s allied with the primary villain after recognizing them as a source of security. She is driven to do whatever it takes to make herself feel safe and secure. However, after learning which faction’s crash destroyed her family, she does have a vendetta against members of that faction.
Ruthanne’s role allows for potential human or alien alliances, as she can see both as venues for her own advancement. If she’s working for an alien villain, she can be the human face of the operation. If she’s working for a human villain, she can help them get whatever they need.
I’m looking forward to seeing my friends’ creations. The next artist is @geist19
First off the Villain, Star Emperor E.O.N (Economic Overseer Network), originally designed to oversee the vast trade and necessity markets between different star faring powers, the AI Eon came to the conclusion that distribution of funds and resources would be handled far more efficiently under a simple hyper competent machine.
Having been trusted with unimaginable resources, it leveraged blackmail and scarcity to take control of the very beings that created it. Only to be forced down unexpectedly by those who chafed under it's tyrranical rule. Now it must bring this primitive world to heel before it reclaims it's Empire among the Stars.
(heartbreaking even the evil tyrant's job has been stolen by AI)
Protagonist's Ally
Brother Godfrey, once a simple Monk devoted entirely to his monestary and faith, when the starships crashed and changed his world forever.
Taken as part of early experiments in information gathering and controlling the population he was fitted with vast and painful cybernetics, keeping him in a strange state between man and machine.
The cybernetic technology was considered a failure, as leaning on an iron will and devotion, Godfrey was able to resist the attempts to controll or re-educate his mind.
Eventually freed in the early days of salvage and battle, Godfrey uses his implants to steal information and schematics from the Alien visitors and arm the heros that resist The Emperor's tyranical expansions. All while maintaining top secrecy, to avoid notice and recapture
I pass it now to @skull-doodles
Vespyre is a type of Vampiric Monster that feeds on blood. It was created by one of the warring alien factions to be the perfect killer on the battle field. His original species was that of a shapeshifter type that was peaceful by nature. Getting forced to fight on the front lines with no other option, he took many lives in order to preserve itself from death. Once the ship it was getting transported on crashed into earth, it broke free and found itself amongst a human town were it learned to shift into a human form. Finding humanity charming, he tried to blend into the town. Though its cloak was not without its flaws, The human form still bore fangs and its fingers split in two pairs, mimicking its would be claws. Eventually, the towns folk became terrified of the human form it took, only the cardinal of the church in town took pity on the poor soul and allowed him to work for the holy house. It came up with the name Renzevous as it thought that sounded human like. Most people just call him Ren.
Renzevous or Ren for short, is the Love interest and a helper (never taken the cloth) at the church that took him in. The man appears to be Blind and has strange deformities that the uneducated callous public nearly killed him over. Living his best life helping out a cardinal that was kind enough to take him in, trouble brews outside the walls of the church as something sinister starts to drain the blood of the local towns folk. No one ever dies, but they find strange marks on their necks after sleeping. A rumor starts going around that there is a Vampire in their mists, and Ren starts to catch blame. It's not unwarranted though. He is responsible for the happenings, but what is a hungry 7 foot tall monster to do?
I pass this onto @for-the-love-of-starwars
folks, you'll never believe what generated naturally in vintage story tonight
actually it's a
"lock in" is probably one of the most important phrases to enter the public lexicon in the 2020s
idk i would personally rather give up access to certain products seasonally or locally than have people enslaved to give me the ability to have any product any place any time. i think i can go without tomatoes in january.
i truly do think that most people if confronted with it and pressed on it would agree. but it's comfortable to gain privileges from someone else's suffering, especially if you don't have to see that suffering directly.
Compiled some basic information I know about drawing fat characters for beginners since I've been seeing more talk about absence of really basic traits in a lot of art lately.
