As the words pour forth from the young girl's lips, Plumeria's arms around her tighten a little. Leaning her forehead against Rapp's, she closes her eyes and moves to take the other's hand. "We already proud'a you. You lovin' us plain as day. You don't gotta be perfect. You just gotta keep doin' your best."

rapp couldn’t handle this much affection from her big sister– both the words and actions, reassuring her that her best was actually good enough for them. her body shook as she let out a series of small cries, eyes unable to stay open for more than a couple second due to the continuous rivers of tears that came from her eyes. there wasn’t much for the girl to do besides say–

"Tch. Now you gettin' all worked up." The words come softly as Plumeria comes to sit on the edge of the bed, reaching out to gather Rapp up in her arms. She holds the younger woman close, gently rubbing her back in small, soothing circles. "You okay, girl. You been through it. Worst is over now."

rapp, as soon as plumeria gathers her in her arms, wraps her arms around her sister figure and clings on tightly. she shakes the slightest bit with the effort of trying to hold back from outright sobbing as she buries her face in plumerias shoulder. she took comfort in the small movements on her back– she’d never admit it but being hugged and consoled like this was one of the many things rapp so desperately craved. another thing plumeria did was another one of those cravings that rapp never thinks she could ever hope to quench the desperation for:

❝ pluuu… ❞ she cried out softly, unable to keep back the softest of sobs, before words just kept spilling past her lips. ❝ ‘m sorry ‘m bad all the time, and– and i get m’self hurt a lot and i get so mean to th’ other grunts but ‘m really happy skull’ m’ family and i don’t ever wanna let you guys down. i needed to keep boss safe, i couldn’t leave ‘im and– ❞

she cuts herself off, biting her lip before she finishes her rambling in a soft whisper.

The head admin sighs, frowning as she examines the injured ankle. After ascertaining that Rapp can still wiggle her toes, she plumps the pillows meant to elevate it and repositions the ice pack she brought it so that it covers the injury. "You a good girl, Rapp. You loyal. And you done the best you could with all that shit goin' down. Part'a the problem was G and me not preparin' you numbskulls for a serious situation like that." She gives Rapp's leg an affectionate pat. "Proud'a you."

rapp truthfully didn’t really… expect the praise that came from plumeria’s lips. she had watched as the other examined her foot before placing it upon a fluffed pillow with an ice pack to aid in the swelling. she expected for plu to tell her to be careful next time or express disappointment before leaving. however, what she got was plu telling her that she was good… and that she was proud.

something she never heard from her parents.

❝ r-really… ?? ❞ rapp murmured softly, eyes wide and staring at plumeria in shock. she couldn’t…believe… someone was actually proud of her. proud. tears formed in her eyes, burning a bit, and slid down her cheeks before she could stop them. she sniffed before she tilted her head down, eyes tightly shut as her fingers gripped the bedding. ❝ thank you, plu… ❞

rapp watched as plumeria spoke up, voice filled with obvious anger and concern for the people who fucked up their ankles that day. rapp felt like a scolded child, could feel plumeria’s disappointment and it made her feel guilty for having the team’s big sister worry so much. but she didn’t regret doing it. felt guilty ?? yes. regretted going out to make sure her boss stayed as safe as he could ?? no.

she looked down anyway, not wanting to meet plumeria’s eyes. however, she did carefully bring up her ankle so the older could check it out. rapp didn’t even have to look at it to know that she aggravated it– she knew it had to be the least bit swollen, skin dying purple.

❝ i couldn’t leave th’ boss alone, ❞ she answered softly. ❝ it didn’t feel right just to leave ‘im out there, plu. i needed to make sure the boss was safe and he wouldn’t get hurt– ah… hurt much, i guess. ❞
