Get Animated! The NFB Celebrates International Animation Day!
Montreal, October 24, 2013 – To mark International Animation Day (October 28), the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is launching the seventh edition of Get Animated!, which runs from October 28 to November 30. This year, for the first time ever, all films will be offered online at nfb.ca/getanimated, and foreign productions from other catalogues will also be shown, providing audiences in Canada and around the world with greater access to a remarkable and FREE selection of the best films from the NFB’s Oscar-winning animation studios.

Guantanamo Bay: The Hunger Strikes – Video Animation
“In March 2013, reports of a hunger strike at Guantánamo Bay, the US detention camp in Cuba, began to surface. Details were sketchy and were contradicted by statements from the US military. Now, using testimony from five detainees, this animated film reveals the daily brutality of life inside Guantánamo. Today there are 17 prisoners still on hunger strike, 16 of whom are being force-fed. Two are in hospital”

“We’re actually working on a script where a character will pass away, I’ll give a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is.”
