alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
bright side of being traded: willmack being able to wear wag playoff jackets (i'm choosing the nyi route. i don't wanna be a devil, man)
āš¦
very late to answering this bc I wanted to write a lil blurb for it <3
premise: reader gets traded to NYI, but is still dating willmack, and this is also an alternative reality where 1) the islanders made playoffs and 2) the NHL is less homophobic LOL

It's bittersweet, when you clinch the same day the Sharks finally lose their playoff chances. This isn't the team you thought you'd be going on a Cup run with, but you're still excited. How could you not be?
You barely manage to stay up to watch the rest of the Sharks gameā the time difference is especially brutal when you're playing on opposite coastsā and text your boyfriends your play-by-play reactions until you pass out on yourā well, the Dobsons'ā couch. In the morning, you wake up with plenty of texts back from both of them, a crick in your neck, and Alexa setting a mug of coffee in front of you on the coffee table.
"Morning, kiddo," she smiles. "Congrats on your first postseason!"
"Thank you," you tell her while gratefully inhaling your caffeine.
She hovers, though, and usually she doesn't look like that in her own home.
"What's up?" you finally ask, worried that maybe you've upset her or something by sleeping on the couch.
"Well, there's this tradition," she starts, sitting down on the opposite arm of the couch, "where us girls make custom jackets for the playoffs. You know, the names and numbers of our boys, plus a cute little fashion moment, all that."
Right. WAG jackets. It always takes you a second to remember the acronym.
"Right..."
"So I was just wanting to check if there's, you know. Anyone who might want one for you?"
"Oh, uh."
"It could even be like, your mom or a sister or an aunt, whoever!" she quickly clarifies. "It's just for fun, you know? No pressure."
Unfortunately, the mental image of Will and Mack in matching jackets is now stuck in your head, and you don't think it's leaving any time soon. Would they actually want to wear a different team's logo, though? Even if it's for you? Maybe because the Sharks aren't in the running, they'd be more willing?
"Um. Maybe? I'll get back to you, if that's okay?"
"Of course, hon. Just let me know what measurements, if any, or if they want any input in the design."
The way she says "they" makes you feel caught out and embarrassed, but you nod in agreement anyway.
You retreat to the guest wing of the house and decide to just pull the trigger by texting, "hey so Alexa just asked me abt wag jacketsā¦"
Within ten seconds, Will is FaceTiming you.
"Sorry, I know it's kind of soonā" you start, but he waves you off immediately.
"Who's the designer? What's the color scheme? Please tell me it's not gonna be a fuckass bright orange."
"I don't know," you laugh, relieved by his enthusiasm. "She just asked if like. There was anyone who I'd want one for? And, I dunno⦠Maybe it's a bad idea."
Will gives you an unimpressed look, then flips the camera to show Mack sitting on the couch eating cereal, wearing a custom Isles jersey; you can see your number on the sleeve. "He literally wore this in the Dunkin drive-thru today. He'll wear your WAG jacket, babe."
"Only if you wear ours next year!" Mack loudly adds, giving the phone a wave with his spoon.
"Whose last name, though?" you ask with a grin. You miss them so badly it aches.
"Obviously it'll say 'CeleSmith' with 271," Mack says decidedly. "Wait, is it 271 or 712?"
You get their measurements from them and text the numbers to Alexa, who responds with a string of heart emojis and smileys, evidently pleased that you'll be participating. Then she asks, "Do they want to be part of the design process?"
And when you text back, "pls do not let Mack OR Will anywhere near the fashion department," you can hear her laughing from across the house.
A few days later, you pull into the player parking at UBS Arena. "Not too late to back out," you remind them.
"Get real," Mack grins, tugging on the lapel, while Will is already popping open his door to step out.
"Grand entrance, baby," he smiles. "You ready?"
Other members of the team are already walking toward the entrance, their wives and girlfriends all in matching classy navy and burnt orange. The colors make the green tones of Mack's eyes pop, and the cut makes Will look extra lean and lanky.
"Let's do this," you agree. With a deep breath, you get out of the car, and you walk into your first Stanley Cup playoff game with two of the most beautiful men you know on either arm. No matter what happens, this moment alone counts as a win in your book.
one thing from project hail mary the book that i really wish theyd made clear in the movie is that when grace makes the decision to save rocky instead of go back to earth, he is prepared to die. like i understand why the movie had to cut a lot from the book for pacing and it wasnt exactly necessary to include the whole sub-subplot where rocky and grace figure out that there is nothing on erid that is safe for humans to consume, but it would have been worth a passing mention at some point, because grace goes back for rocky knowing that even if rocky takes him to erid, he will still die there, because there is nothing he can eat. the only reason he survives is by eating taumoeba, which is a solution rocky comes up with only after grace saves him and admits to him that he came to his rescue fully prepared to die.
the movie really breezes past rocky's rescue and the time skip, and it never explains why choosing to save rocky is so monumental in the first place: it answers the central question grace is grappling with for the whole movie. "who would i die for?" he doesn't just go back for rocky because it's the right thing to do. he sacrifices himself to save rocky. he is ready to die if it means rocky will live.
Discovering an unnamed crater on the moon that no human has seen with the naked eye before and requesting that it be named Carroll after your late wife is quite possibly the most romantic gesture Iāve ever witnessed
The headcanon that Ryland Grace is aroace is so important to me. Because the respresentation of his relationship with Rocky being the most important relationship in his life is SO meaningful.
Like thatās just his buddy. His little guy. A friend, and thatās ENOUGH for him. Itās the most meaningful relationship he has and will have and heās perfectly content with it
plus i think itās just so important for this movie specifically too like with all its popularity.
Like yes, your own little life can be enough to not go in that mission. It doesnāt matter he doesnāt have a family or even a dog. He has his life and it does not need to be measured in who he loves.
AND EVEN THEN being a teacher that loves his students is enough too. Like maybe he didnāt plan to be a teacher, but like the ending of the movie clearly represents that he does love being one and making that connection and doing that service to young minds.
So like, as an ace, i just love the representation of not being quantified by a love life. Fuck you Stratt
and if you call pedophilia anĀ āorientationā or in any way compare it to being LGBP+ you can unfollow, delete your blog, and set yourself on fire.Ā
Iāve seen this circulating forever and genuinely thought āno way do I have any of them following meā until this week when it turned out I had all these fuckin āMAPā (pedophile) followers sad to find out Iām an āantiā (normal person)
Please leave and also please get guinea worm.
the aroace read of ryland grace is so personal and haunting. "you don't even have a dog." was it not enough to love the world for the sake of living in it. was it not enough to live for the thrill of discovery. was it not enough to smile at your students. was it not enough to be afraid.
