Almost without missing a beat, nearly cutting her off, even, he said, “The first substance that comes to mind is anthrax powder, but I’m not sure where to get that. I might look up how to make it, though. I’m curious now.” He’d never been one to watch his words, regardless of who he was speaking to, which was how he’d landed himself in trouble in school and other public places several times. “I’m giving it away because I don’t want it. I thought about throwing it away, but my parents always told me never to throw away food. Then again, they also once tricked me into believing Santa Claus is real, so they could just be full of shit, really.” He watched as the girl swiped her tongue over the frosting, standing unbothered with face devoid of any outward expression as he looked on. “Why would I take it back? I just gave it to you.”
Sky stared at him for a moment, lips pressed together in a thin line. Perhaps licking the cupcake hadn’t been the smartest idea, but if it killed her then… It’d be the end of what felt like an eternal run, but she figured it wouldn’t be as bad as it sounded. “Your parents sound hella deceitful, I wouldn’t trust them if I were you.” She shrugged after a moment. “I don’t know, you just gave a stranger a cupcake, you could be planning on taking it away just to see the happiness drain off my eyes or some evil plan like that.”
medicmica:
SURPRISED at the fact someone stepped in, Mica could feel the tightness in his chest easing slightly– slightly being a key word. White knuckles stopped gripping so tight and he looked towards the girl whom had spoken for him, a grateful beam working across his face as he nodded his head, hair bouncing slightly in tow. “Y-Yeah…” he started, cheeks forming a light dusting of pink as he felt more and more stupid at the fact he was struggling to ask someone not to be a dick. “Thank you! Some people kind’ve forget that other people exist i guess. But you’d think they’d see someone who was nearly 6′, right? Hah–” Why are you still talking? Shut up, stop embarrassing yourself! “– Sorry, I’m rambling.”
Skylar gave a slight shrug. “’Sall good.” She was reaching back for the candy bar she’d been planning on stealing and offered it out to him. “You can thank me by buying this for me, I left my wallet back home.” A lie, of course, but one that wouldn’t hurt anyone, if they didn’t dig too deep that is. She did have to look up at him, at nearly a foot shorter than him it was impossible not to see him. “Some people might be blind, you never know, maybe they thought you were a tree… in a store, because they’re stupid,” She smiled. “You’re fine.”

He frowned, lips slightly pursed as he tried to consider what she was trying to imply. “I don’t know anything about breaking anyone’s heart,” he said, which was really against the point she might have been trying to make regarding the supposed ‘poison’. With a slightly bated breath, he added, “There’s really no such thing as a broken heart, anyway. Well, there is, but it has more to do with the tendons in your heart, which you might know as heartstrings than the actual heart itself. It’s said people have died exhibiting cardiomyopathic symptoms, but because of too much stress. Which, I guess, people likened to a ‘broken heart’.” He nodded, but before she could react, he gestured towards the box that was now in her hands once more. “It’s not poisoned, by the way. It should disintegrate the cupcake by now, and it hasn’t yet. I’m assuming she bought it yesterday or at least sometime last night, because she gave it to me early this morning where I don’t imagine any pastry shops would’ve been open.”
Skylar blinked, somewhere along the way she’d lost everything he’d been saying. He did talk a lot and she wasn’t particularly interested in the functions of heart tendons, or whatever. The cupcake in her hands did look delicious though and, while she wasn’t about to give it back, she had to question his motives. “How could you know if it would consume it? What if it was some powder type poison was sneaked into the mix or something?” Still, as she spoke, her hands were busy opening the box and bringing the cupcake up to smell it. “Why are you giving it away though? Not that I’m giving it back,” She stuck out her tongue to lick it. “See, it’s mine now, you can’t have it back, it has my germs all over it now.”
“Here.” He extended a box with a pretty pink ribbbon on top towards the other person, nearly tossing it at them, really, in his blatant disinterest. “It’s a cupcake. Some girl gave it to me at school today, and I haven’t touched it since then.” Motioning the box closer, he urged them on. “Take it.”
“I mean, sure, okay, dude.” Skylar shrugged as she took the box that was practically pushed onto her hands. “How do I know you haven’t poisoned it or that the girl didn’t poison it for some kind of vendetta against you because you broke her heart or something along those lines?” If he was giving it away now, she wouldn’t doubt him having done it before if the girl gave him something else before.
STANDING in the queue at Target, he had his weekly basket of food and other random stuff that he probably can’t afford but Target’s deals made him buy them. He just wanted to get in, and out again but no. Being cut in front of, Mica had a debate with himself in his mind. Say something. Tell them there’s a line, that there’s other people waiting. Do it! “Uhm–” he started, tapping them on the shoulder. “Excuse me, there’s…other people. Could you maybe…I mean, the back of the queue is…” Trailing off, he looked down at the hand that was holding his shopping and could feel that familiar feeling in his chest growing tighter and tighter.
“Hey, what the dude here is trying to say is, move to the fuckin’ back of the line.” Skylar interjected despite her trying her best to keep a low profile. But she didn’t have any time for assholes and the man trying to defend himself was not doing a very good job it. She placed the candy bar she had been planning on taking and looked up at the guy as the other one walked away now that they’d been noticed by the other people in the line. “People fucking suck. You good though?”
Warren preferred to go to the gym early enough to beat the evening rush and be home in time to eat dinner and catch the Sports Center highlights, but it seemed things weren’t boding well for him tonight when he exited the facility to find two cars had blocked in his truck between the curb and the street. “Seriously?” He sighed, allowing the dufflebag to drop from his shoulder onto the pavement. “What is wrong with some people?” His hair was disheveled, still damp from working out, as he ran a hand through it in frustration and mulled over the options which didn’t involve getting his tow bars and moving the car himself.
Sky tilted her head to the side as she watched the man go off. Her lips quirked into a smile, connecting his anger to the cars around the one he seemed to own. “Looks like you’re shit out of luck, buddy.” Her shoulders lifted in a half shrug, the smile on her lips a teasing one. “I’d wish you good luck finding the owners but…” She trailed off glancing around the street at the different venues surrounding them. “Today’s really not your lucky day, huh?”
“So this kid has written in their homework essay that Ahab’s obsession with finding the whale in literary classic ‘Moby Dick’ is because he ‘needs to get laid’. How do I even go about marking that?” She sighed deeply. “You know finding homoerotic subtexts in texts is actually pretty astute, maybe it’s an automatic ‘A’, what do you think?”
“The real question here is, why didn’t I have a teacher like you while I was in high school?” Skylar sighed, of course she’d gotten the teachers that were not even remotely as cool. “I’d say give them an A, but I’m not a teacher so I don’t know how you’d go about that.”
“Not to be a total hick or anything but the barbecue around here is a fucking joke.” Elijah gave a look of disgust and shook his head. “It’s all, like, vegan low-fat tofu bullshit. If there isn’t a slight chance you’ll have a heart attack, it isn’t proper barbecue. I’m excited to not be living in a red state anymore, but my god, at what cost.”
“I didn’t know barbecue snobs were actually a thing.” Skylar snorted. “Really, though, it isn’t impossible to find a place that’ll have what you’re looking for.”
noelblackwell:
“ Sneaking into a movie? You rebel. ” The off duty paramedic couldn’t help the smug look that graced his features upon the musings of the woman befalling his ears. “ I most certainly am judging you. That’s newbie talk. ” Stepping to her side, though maintaining the distance between them, a soft chortle fell from parted lips. “ You can do much better. ”
Skylar couldn’t help the roll of her eyes if she tried. Though, a spark of interest shone in them when he teased her. “Just because you’re old doesn’t mean I’m a newbie.” She rose an eyebrow at him, arms crossed over her chest. “What are you suggesting though?” She wasn’t interested, actually, she was, but she could pretend that was not the case when there was a certain nonchalance to her voice.
A day off from working one of the many odd jobs he’d managed to acquire was not something Samuel was often afforded but, when he was, he preferred to lay low and do something that he really loved; absolutely nothing. He was sat in a corner booth at The Dubliner, sipping his beer in silence, when someone took the seat across from him. He arched a brow and set his glass down on the wooden tabletop, obviously annoyed by the disturbance that had interrupted his plans of doing nothing.
“You need something?”
“If I were you, I’d scram, someone’s in a pissy mood.” Skylar told the other person as she approached his table. A shrug was given in his direction while she waited for the girl to be gone before taking a seat across her neighbor. “Did someone piss on your beer or is this you being the usual towards girls that want to hop on you?”
scott-ripley:
Once she caught up with him, Scott smirked and glanced around to see what movies were playing. “If you’re up for a scary movie we can stick to that IT one.” He suggested with a raised eyebrow.
“I hope you don’t end up screaming through the whole movie if you’re picking that one.” Not that it wouldn’t entertain her, but she’d have a field trip teasing him about it once they were out of it. “Because I’m up and if you yell, I’m recording you.”
avrielsutton:
Avi listened to her talk, not bothered by what he perceived as aggression in her tone. “Couldn’t agree more,” he said. He, after all, was the type of person to ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Life was better with a little danger, in his opinion. Hearing her threaten him only made him smile back. “I’d be honoured,” he said. “All the better for my wallet, right? And what’s the name of my new partner in crime, hm?”
Sky took a quick glance around them, at the people in line, the ushers looking bored and ready to take out running the moment their shifts were over and finally let her gaze return to his face. “I will tell you my name if we make it safely inside, if not, it will remain a mystery, unless someone else reveals it before I get the chance to do so, deal?”
theodeveraux:
Theo just smirked. He used to be a regular attendee of the movie theatre when he was a teen and he had never once paid for a ticket. He liked to think that getting in for free was one of his specialities by now. “Judging you? Babe, I’m encouraging you. I say you do it – c’mon.” He nodded towards a particularly large group that were milling around as they waited for the last of their group to pay, he then slipped into the mass of bodies and pulled her with him.
“This town needs more people like you and less of those who are scared of getting into shit.” Skylar pointed out as she followed him. The group was large enough that the ushers weren’t really keeping track of how many there were compared to the amount of tickets they got, and as they made it safely inside, Sky couldn’t help the grin on her lips. “Remind me to invite you to the movies more often, uh, what’s your name again?”
alexambrosias:
“You know I’m always down to do stupid shit with you, and there’s nothing more that I enjoy than watching you come up with ‘foolproof’ plans and get caught, but…” He sighed, his eyes darting towards the line at the ticketing booth before moving to look back to his friend. He used to be way more fun, he thought, before he got older and somehow had a burden of responsibilities pressing upon him and a close surveillance from his parents’ hawks. He wished that didn’t have to change. And maybe it shouldn’t. “Screw it, I’m in.”
Skylar’s arms were crossed over her chest as he rambled on. It all sounded like excuses to her, and he knew this too, by the look on his face. She didn’t care how filthy rich he was, Alex used to not be afraid of anything, but then again, he did go through some rough shit. “Look at you, making me proud and all,” She smirked once he gave up. “You wanna go ahead and take the lead or shall I show you how it’s done?”
