so after the ammonia burns at Adrian, Grace's finger prints are probably gone, at least on his left side. that has to be such a mindfuck for him right?? any part of your body being altered can be jarring, but fingerprints are such a heavy symbol of identity yknow??? and yeah, ofc he'd get used to it eventually, but it would still be upsetting for a while!!

a part of you that's meant to always identify you, even when you change your face and name, being destroyed?? that's *gotta* at least moderately fuck with you. especially since it's something that's unique to every human and Grace hasn't and *can't* see any other human's fingerprints besides his own because he's the only human he gets to see in-person

no doubt he's had thoughts in the past about what exactly "makes us human" *cough* aroace *cough*, and this would just be fuel to the fire
someone in the replies reminded me that fingerprints can regenerate, although it seems like it depends on how severe the damage is. if he's lucky, maybe he'll have that to comfort him as time goes on. that'd be nice, i think :)
