The purple mist creeps ever closer.
The mist encroaches upon the outer streets of the town. Ever since it hit the town, a mysterious wraith-like silhouette has been spotted wandering through these misty streets. It fades in and out of existence for the entire duration of the 11th hour.
The local people have begun noticing this strange phenomena and can no longer be ignored, so the town council have announced the Festival of the Mist to celebrate the appearance of the rare purple mist. The council has announced that the festival will continue until the mist disperses and invites all tourists to enjoy this natural wonder. However, they also stress that the dark figure who is rumoured to roam the mist is not in any way associated with the council or this event. They emphasize that they are not responsible for any actions that individual may take, and that it’s probably best not to approach them.
For those of you with an artefact....
A voice whispers on the wind, "Maricia’s gift comes at a price." A message seemingly unheard by everyone else. Shortly afterwards, you notice a shallow wound, no bigger than a paper cut, somewhere on your body. It is slow to heal, even for supernaturals. It’s a little peculiar but afterwards, you begin to have a vague idea of what your artefact’s powers are. You continue to feel oddly secretive and protective of your artefact.
Anyone who tries to throw away their artefact, or even store it away somewhere, will find that it mysteriously reappears on their person.
The purple mist has expanded out of the forest and into the town. The Board of Tourism assures everyone that this is completely normal.
The Festival of the Mists has commenced and will continue indefinitely. Everyone is welcome to view, photograph and walk through the purple vapour.
A shadowy figure appears and disappears from within the mist. The figure can most often be seen from 11pm to midnight.
Players can participate in any way they please, whether it be a thread dedicated to the event or a brief passing thought. Participation is not compulsory but is encouraged. In this plot drop, your character can:
Learn about an artefact. Player characters who have found an artefact will sense the magical effects it has, if they haven't already.
Notice a small cut on their bodies, about the size of a papercut. The wound is slow to heal and there is no way to know what caused it.
Become more paranoid about their artefact. They will struggle to let their object leave their person. If someone shows an interest in their artefact, they may become agitated or evasive.
Interacting with the pyramid still won’t result in any reaction from the pyramid itself.
If your character did not get an artefact in the last plot, you can RP them finding it in a self-para or that they found it off screen. Alternatively, your character can be reacting to the strange occurrences caused by other people’s artefacts and other characters’ strange behaviour.
You would know that the town has never had a ‘Festival of the Mists’ before and might feel a little unnerved by the announcement.
Non-supernatural residents…
You would know that the town has never had a ‘Festival of the Mists’ before, however it is not unusual for the council to throw spontaneous events.
