Hi! I'm SkyNight a cosplayer from Québec, Canada! I'll mainly post cosplay related stuff such as WIP and some conventions shot that I don't get the chance to share. You can also follow me on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cosplayskynight/
I finished styling my Ruby wig today and I have to say that I really like it! I haven't cosplayed a character with short hair in a while, I kind of forgot how comfy a short wig can be! I’m planning on making Ruby’s battle outfit next year, for now I’ll have her school uniform that I’ve ordered because I don’t have time to make it! I’m saving my energy on my big cosplays :3
Also bonus Ruby fangirling on weapons pic because that gif would have been too big xD
How did you do the white details on your sleeves and skirt of your Luna cosplay?
Hi!
I used HeatnBond for that which is a iron-on adhesive for fabric. I first traced my pattern on paper than retraced it on the HeatnBond paper side. Ironed it on my white fabric, cut the shapes and than after removing the paper backing, ironed it again on my final piece :)
Ordon Link -WIP- I am (almost) done with Ordon Link!! Just have to put eyelets in that weird sleeve thing. I am not 100% satisfied with it since I had to make it really quickly, but that's my fault for being lazy :V
How has everyone been doing? I know I haven’t been very active on tumblr recently, I am more active on my Facebook and Instagram for the simple reason that I find it easier to communicate and that I receive more feedback and tips there :V But ’ll try to update tumblr more often xD
So, Otakuthon is getting close and my first lineup didn’t work out so this is now my official lineup! Nothing new, just older cosplay, but fun ones to wear! I was originally going to make Hyrule Warrioirs Zelda and Link, but due to personal things hapenning in my life and not enough time, I’ve decided to delay those for my next con in winter. I didn’t want to rush them because I wouldn’t have been pleased with the result, so I’ll just take my time to perfect those costumes!
Can’t wait for the con, it’s gonna be awesome! And, I’ll probably have my first glowing props ;D Which will be the sassy triforce for the tv serie xD
Link - Hyrule Warriors - WIP I am done with Link's scarf! It was time consuming to embrodery that thing but worth it! I'm very please with the final result! The real blue is closer to the one on the right bottom pic xD
Dyeing fabric in a tiny bathroom isn't easy xD but at last! Some progress on Zelda! Dyeing is actually fun, messy but fun xD Now I can sew the shoulder pieces together, for the skirt thing I have to get purple fabric for the inside but first I have to paint those golden symbols xD #cosplaywip #nintendo #hyrulewarriorscosplay #zeldahyrulewarriors
I am almost done with the drafting stage of Zelda arm armor, I just need to adjust a few things and I can finally start to prepare it for worbla :D It’s the only thing I can make for now xD so worbla before sewing! XD #legendofzeldacosplay #princesszelda #hyrulewarriors #cosplaywip
A simple a fun costume my friend and I decided to do for Nadeshicon. We were quite a colorful group xD Missing Mars but she might join us if we get the chance to wear those costumes again.
Can't believe that I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Roy amiibo!! It would have been awesome if he was compatible with FE:Fates :V #firemblem #supersmashbros #royamiibo #Imfireemblemtrash
Miku Hatsune - Vocaloid - I haven't updated here for a while, so here's some progress on my Miku dress! The design is from the song Lollipop Factory! I only need to make the hat and style the wig, that I still didn't received :( , and modify minor details! Almost ready for Nadeshicon! Well I still need to make another costume but yeah, it'll be fine xD
Hi everyone! Hope you’ve been doing well! Since we got lots of question about how we made the light bow for Zelda and Sheik, I’ve decided to make a tutorial for it since I took some pictures of the different stages. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures for every step, but I’ll explain how we made the bow as best as I can!
Let’s start by a list of what you will need:
1 foam board
1 wooden dowel
Stainless steel wire
Foam sheet
Duck tape! Or masking tape
4 cans of expansion foam
Mod Podge
White glue and paper
Exacto
Dremel
Sanding paper
Gold spray can and acrylic
Step 1 Research and drafting
The length of the bow will be influenced based on your height; I’m 5’5’’ so we made the bow 60 inch long. We checked some archery site for recurve bow to know which length was better for us, and we decided to go with this height. We could have picked bigger, but the Twilight bow looks smaller then Zelda and it was already big enough has it is xD So the length is up to you, pick whatever you prefer but do take your height in account. Now look for references and make a draft of your bow! The wooden dowel is about 19-20 inch with a handle, centered in the middle, of 5 inch long.
Step 2 Making the armature
Use the foam board to start the armature for the ticker part of the bow. Use the metal wire for the thinner part of the bow, meaning the end :V Duck tape everything together and repeat for the other side. Note that the spike near the middle of the bow and the thing that creates the hole at the end of the bow, do not need armature for now has they will be crafted separately and added later. Add small rectangles of foam board on the armature to add more grip.
Step 3 Make it look like a big blob :D
Doesn’t it look marvelous :D So yeah, just add your expansion foam starting from the middle to the tips. To that point it might look like nothing but it will, trust me! From that point you can use a copy of your draft (yes make a copy, you never know what can happen ) and trace the shape of the bow so you know where to cut. From this point it’s a lot of sculpting and you will need to trace the bow shape more than one time.
Step 4 Harm yourself with patience and sculpt
Sculpting the shapes is the longest step! It took about 2 month, not working everyday on it but almost. The exacto was use to remove most of the excess foam and to roughly sculpt the shapes. One hard thing was to keep the bow straight, if by mistake you removed too much foam and the bow is curved, just add expansion foam again and retry. When you are satisfied with the basic shape, use the dremel to refine the shapes. The dremel is super useful to make the cracks because it is more precise then the exacto! I highly suggest you to wear a mask when using the dremel, because it makes a lot of dust!
Step 5 Add the details
From that point you can add the spikes and the end thing of the bow (shown by the arrows on second pic). They only have a metal wire armature that you make a little longer so you can pin it on after they’ve been sculpted. Add a little foam at the connection to solidify everything together and remove the excess and and smooth it! From that point, be super proud of yourself because the hardest part is done! Note, to make the design near the middle of the bow, use foam sheets so it will be raised a little and you don’t have to sculpt that ;D
Step 6 Covering and painting
I don’t have any pictures between the two step so I’ll just explain it :V You will notice that expansion foam does make a lot of holes, but not a worry. Use mod podge to fill the holes and once it’s done, cover the whole thing with papier maché! Sand everything and cover it with mod podge. Sand it again until it is smooth enough! Once it’s done you can start painting! From that point, the paint is up to you, whether you want to use a glowing paint or not etc. We painted everything with a gold spray can first and just used regular acrylic to make the yellow parts. For the handle, we used a gold bias tape and just wrapped it around! Annnnnnnnnd it’s done!!!!
An advantage of making the bow with expansion foam is that it’s really lightweight for such a big prop, but it can break easily if you are not careful. But it can be repaired easily xD Unless you break it in half, don’t do that D: Hope it was useful, if you have any questions, don’t be shy to ask, my sister and I will be really happy to answer ^^
Just a few more pics from the photoshoot my sister and I did at the beginning of winter. I didn’t have time until now to edit them because I had to put all my time on my cosplays xD But now the convention is done, so there you go :V

I also take this opportunity to tell you that I just started an instagram account :) So if anyone is interested in following me there, my username is SkyNight_xD And a quick reminder that I also now have a facebook page, that I’ve decided to use more then tumblr since it’s easier to get comments or opinions on wips and etc. Thanks in advance :)
Forgot to reveal my secret G-anime cosplay, so there you go! We wanted to have a simple costume and be dorks all day xD Perfect costumes for that! And we got the chance to take funny poses all day xD You can’t be serious when cosplaying those two xD I didn't do a photoshoot, so I only have con photos for now :V
Got the chance to take few pictures at G-anime, but it was pretty late and we didn't have any good lightning. So It's more edited then usual and a little blurry :/ Annnnnd I need to learn to edit properly xD And also to smile properly D:
