I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldn’t see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like “uh…hi?” And she said “I made you, do you know that?” And I nodded and she was like “I hear your thoughts. Why do you hate my creation? Why do you try to destroy yourself? I made you perfect as you are. Please don’t break my heart”. Then she started crying and it flooded and I woke up with fucking heart palpitations like what does it Mean™️????
polar opposite of this post
inspiration struck and would not let me go until i drew this
This is really beautiful!!!
Oh fuck
"queer spaces are for everyone but cis men! safe spaces include everyone but cis men!"
okay
that will require stealth trans men to out themselves in order to receive help
that will require closeted trans women to out themselves in order to receive help
that will require nonbinary people who don't ""look nonbinary"" because they look too masculine to out themselves in order to receive help
it will also alienate transfems & trans people who were AMAB who haven't realized they're trans yet from spaces that could provide them a safe place to explore gender & sexuality and be introduced to the idea of being trans
trans people are eventually going to get uncomfortable with your hatred for cis men, because people who were AMAB are gonna wonder if you secretly hate them for being "actually men" and trans mascs are gonna wonder if you hate them for being men at all
people attracted to cis men are going to feel uncomfortable when they try and bring up their love for men including cis men or bring their cis boyfriends/partners/friends to your spaces
there are cis queer men & queer men who blur the lines between cis and trans and they have just as much a right to queer spaces as you do
^ intersex men also exist including intersex cis men
there is never going to be a group of people who it is alright to blindly hate just because of circumstances of their birth or identity and every time you try you are going to end up hurting people. embrace compassion and nuance
edit: to be clear, "cis queer men" includes gay cis men, bi cis men, aro & ace cis men, etc. etc. & cis queer men who are verifiably cis are still very much queer
Okay so while including cis queer men and creating a safe space, how does one stay aware and avoid the tolerance paradox in the case of any individual wanting to disrupt the community?
Definitely cautious to weigh in, given that I have zip personal experience with these spaces, but here's my thought. The post isn't saying "let absolutely everyone in and never eject anyone," as in the tolerance paradox (fail to eject a nazi, eventually it's a nazi gathering). One can eject bad actors without barring someone based solely on a gender category. In other words, benefit of the doubt, and if they're malicious or otherwise not acting in good faith, they can be booted. That's my two cents anyway!
Yeah that's pretty much it.
Honestly, I am a bit concerned if people read this post and start talking about the tolerance paradox, not because it's a bad thing but because "including queer cis men in queer spaces, which they inherently belong in as queer people" isn't at all part of the paradox. We aren't talking about white supremacists or TERFs (which are both groups you choose to be in)... we're talking about cis queer men, your brothers.
Cis men aren't inherently bad people, and there are trans, nonbinary, lesbian, non-cis non-men who are actively harmful to others. If you go "well, there's no queer men, so we're safe!" that really just opens the door for abusive people to go unquestioned because they are "inherently safe".
You can't know if any stranger who enters a space is going to be disruptive. Someone might come in who fits all the "good queer" identity boxes and ends up being extremely toxic. Make the rules of the space clear, enforce them when needed, foster a community attitude that encourages people to bring up issues that need to be addressed. All of that is much more actionable and better for keeping a space safe than "there aren't any cis men here, it's just us Girls, so we're safe!"
some of you need to go outside and I dont mean that in a mean or condescending way I mean it in a "you would benefit from talking to real people face to face, and developing social skills" type way
genuinely tho. more and more frequently i interact with people online who shock me with how young they act for how old they are, because i associate that level of social and interpersonal inability with fucking. fourteen year olds. there is a noticeable deterioration of social skills and it's annoying as someone who actually knows how to talk to people, because i find myself having to almost parent people basically my age into learning how to properly communicate. no, just saying insults and then adding /lh does not mean you're friends with someone. you can't just call someone a bitch or a whore or any type of slur and get surprised when they aren't okay with that, because if you actually took a step outside you'd realize those are words that have a whole lot of weight behind them and online get thrown around by social infants with no clue how to properly talk to people.
people are always coming to tell me that i'm very nice or very welcoming, and i don't know how to explain this to you, but it's because i have actual social skills. i know how to be polite. i know how to listen to people. i know how to actually form healthy relationships with people who aren't just words on a screen. and it's come to my realization that not everyone does, which makes it extra exhausting to keep up conversations with literal adults who don't even understand the basics of interpersonal communication.
this puts it into words well ty

Digital Art Improvement Week
Hello there! This is the day one post for DAIW (need a better name but oh well)
Allow me to explain!
Day 2!
[ID: Purple background. Various sketches of hands, eyes, two swords, and a cat. A sketch of an elven man. A colored sketch of a purple elven man with light purple veins, wearing green briefs, with his back to the camera unsheathing a sword. /End ID]
Spent most of today practicing drawing hands, and decided to finish off the stream by drawing an old dnd npc!
Day 3!
[ID: Red violet background. Various sketches of planes, an airship, generators, wheelchairs, and prosthetic hands. On the left side, there’s a person with a missing arm and prosthetic arm holding a knife, they are wearing a orange tank top, ripped blue jeans, and brown boots. Behind them there is a blimp on fire about to crash down, a broken down car, and buildings sinking into the ground, reflecting the fire of the blimp. /End ID]
Today was a bit of a rough day! Only woke up a few minutes before stream time, spelled the title wrong, and didn’t realize the stream didn’t have my mic until 40 minutes in.
The stream ended up being 3 hours! Tomorrow’s stream will be much shorter.
Day 4 + 5
Not gonna lie, these last two days were a little rough but I still managed to show up and draw.
On day 4, photoshop crashed twice and I ended stream early out of frustration. I ignored my computer for the rest of the day.
[ID: Dark orange background. Various sketches of armor, plate, lamellar, and samurai, as well as a shield, daggers, spearheads, axes, a lute, a mace, a sai, and some oddly shaped weapons. /End ID]
On day 5, I had to deal with photoshop still struggling and decided to switch to Krita (which drawing wise felt a lot smoother). I’m pretty sure the stream disconnected at some point, hopefully the footage is still usable.
I also almost quit a few minutes into the stream because my screen randomly turned off. Still not sure why it did that.
Tomorrow is the final stream! Hopefully it’ll go better tomorrow.
[ID: Green background. Says ‘Day 5′ with a heart in the left corner. From top left to bottom right there are sketches of a person sitting on a cliff looking out at mountains and forest, a person sitting smugly on a throne with pillars that form an arc in front of the throne, a different throne room with straight pillars and a person looking up at the person on the throne, a person with wide eyes looking up, a sketch of a sheep dragon. Bottom right to left, a person running from a spirit, a person holding their stomach with a broken down car, crashing blimp, and sinking buildings behind them, an elf looking down a cliff surrounded by spirits and beasts with snake-like eyes in the background, and the final drawing is a cave with a winding river moving towards a pink sun, the land is green and a the elf is looking in the distance at a bubbled castle. /End ID]
Day 6!
[ID: Blue background. Day 6! written in the righthand corner. In top left, an image of a woman with blonde hair and leather jacket staring intensely, next to it is a pink and black value drawing of that image. Below that there is a robotic fox head sketch with three blue and dark blue value paintings. The final image set is a cat sitting on a branch with an orange moon in the background, the image next to it is a black cat on a branch with an orange circle behind it. /End ID]
Day 6 was a struggle not going to lie! Painting is not a medium I am familiar with. However it was fun to try new things.
With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I need to let people know how dangerous the healthcare privacy climate is now. As someone that works with PHI (protected health information) I want to stress that HIPAA (the law that prevents your health data from being shared) does not apply to healthcare apps. These are incredibly dangerous to use, not only because law enforcement can procure a subpoena to access this information, but because these apps can sell your health data to any third party—potentially anti-abortion activists. Anyone with a uterus should delete not only period trackers, but mental health apps, because if you have a miscarriage or seek an abortion in a state that outlaws it, your mental health history can be used against you.
I would also discourage people from using online therapy apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace. Though BetterHelp says they are HIPAA compliant, that is a lie. They have shared data with Facebook. Their most recent privacy policy update says “We may share your information in connection with an asset sale, merger, bankruptcy, or other business transaction.” Any data breach could put your information at risk. Any health app could suddenly decide to change their privacy policies without notice.
Most responsible clinicians put your health data under (many times literally) lock and key. PHI software like Epic or Cerner have numerous failsafes to prevent data leaks. This is not the case for apps. BetterHelp and healthcare apps in general do not care about this. They only care about money. Do not trust any healthcare provider or app that operates strictly online. And for your own sake, use a VPN if you’re searching for abortion providers or advice.
stop feeling hopeless, start getting ready
If you are in a red state, your state either has an abortion ban in place or is rated by the Guttmacher Institute as likely to enact a ban. Your focus should be on protecting yourself and others who need abortions.
stop using electronic period tracking apps or software
educate yourself and others about pregnancy prevention and join groups that are making preventative birth control more accessible
learn the nearest and most accessible routes to states where you and your loved ones can access abortion
contribute to mutual aid funds to help transport people over state lines if they are in need of abortion
consider joining The Satanic Temple so you can claim protections under the Religious Abortion Ritual if you are prosecuted for obtaining an abortion
keep a stock of by-mail abortion pills for yourself and/or others who may need them (you may need to travel out of state to obtain them)
form community provider networks and see if you or someone you know can be trained to use manual vacuum aspiration kits or a Del-Em
all of the above should be done in complete secrecy using verbal communication, end-to-end encrypted apps such as Signal, or a VPN
If you are in a yellow state, you currently have constitutional abortion protections but they are in jeopardy. Get active in local political groups NOW to fight back against constitutional amendments to ban abortion. Your focus should be purely on political action.
If you are in Michigan, you currently have a ban in place which is being challenged, and your governor is working to add abortion protections into the Michigan state constitution. Your focus should be on supporting the work that is currently under way.
If you are in a green state, your state has constitutional protections for abortion that are unlikely to be challenged. Your focus should be on helping others to enter your state for abortion care.
connect with abortion access groups such as Aid Access, Abortion on Demand, the National Network of Abortion Funds, or Just The Pill
volunteer to help people enter your state for abortion care, either with transportation help or letting someone crash on your couch
if you live in a green state with no current or predicted primary routes from other states for abortion access, you can focus your efforts on supporting political action in other areas
If you are in a purple state, your state currently has no constitutional protections for abortion but is unlikely to implement a ban. You have two focuses: pushing for constitutional protections AND helping others to enter your state for abortion care (see green state list).
Doomscrolling Save Point
hey relax for a second and watch the cat
a few things to keep in mind as you talk about the current situation with roe v wade:
women are not the only people who can get pregnant, and therefore are not the only people who get abortions or the only people affected by restrictions to abortion access — sincerely, a man with a uterus
the recent legislation against trans people transitioning, particularly as it relates to trans men and transmasc people, has been justified by the politicians supporting it using the argument that transitioning jeopardizes our reproductive potential, which they see as more important than our actual lives. if you support the legislation against us or have been silent about it, you cannot claim to be fighting for reproductive rights. you don’t get to only care about it when it affects you — if you let them get away with that rhetoric against trans people, you give them the power to use it against you. if you can’t stand in solidarity with us, you will end up standing against yourself
please don’t forget us in these conversations, and don’t be silent about the attacks on our bodily autonomy
all of this is connected — criminalizing transition, overturning roe v wade, it’s all working toward the same goal. if you care about one part of it, you have to care about all of it, or any efforts against it will fail
if you don’t care enough about us to fight our oppression for our sake, do it because you cannot fight against your own oppression without fighting ours too
to my fellow usamericans….in light of the supreme court overturning roe v wade, well known organizations like planned parenthood dont need your money right now - they have plenty - if you’re going to donate, donate to your local or state abortion funds
the national network of abortion funds allows you to split your donation between 91 abortion funds in the united states - it lists every fund your donation goes to and allows you to customize the amount you give to each fund
Friendly reminder that this blog is pro-choice and if you don’t think everyone should have full control of their own body, then kindly unfollow me right now and go to hell
