padawan found [ bad batch ]
SUMMARY — the bad batch take in an injured jedi padawan
WARNINGS — gn!jedi!reader, order 66 mentions, angst
EVERYTHING YOU’D KNOWN HAD GONE TO RUIN. your life, your master, and your precious jedi temple. the last thing you wanted to do was run, but you knew you had to. to save yourself.
you sought refuge — if that’s what you’d call it — on bracca. even though the planet displayed the bones of jedi cruisers, it provided at least some cover from the empire. that thinking was ironic, considering the empire was all over the planet, scavenging for parts and in the back of their minds, jedi.
fortunately for you, they hadn’t found you. you made a cruiser bridge your home. dangerous as that was, there wasn’t much else to do or go.
unfortunately for you, while you were finding the place, you fell and tore up your leg pretty badly. you tried to wrap it up, but you knew you’d need some form of stitching to officially heal your wound. because of that, you had a growing infection in your leg.
you were slumped against the control panel, trying not to let the fever overtake you. you exhaled slowly, attempting to control your breathing. you looked down at your lightsaber, which laid loosely in your hand. what used to be a symbol of peace was now a symbol of treason.
“you’re in violation of order 66,”
it didn’t make sense to you. none of it did. those words forever haunted your mind, and those were the words that blared in your ears whenever you looked at your lightsaber, which to you, was now a symbol of failure.
a creak interrupted your thoughts. it was a lovely distraction from the throbbing pain in your leg. you slowly stood, bracing on the control panel. as you stood there, your breathing being the only thing you could hear, you started to hear voices. sure, voices carried once you were in a cruiser, but that’s the thing, once you were inside.
you grasped your lightsaber tightly in your hands. you told yourself you were ready for whatever threat has come to try and take you from the galaxy.
they came closer by the second. you didn’t want to ignite your saber, not wanting to fight anymore, but you didn’t want to die. as the voices drew nearer, you recognized them. they were clones. fear seeped into your chest as you ignited your lightsaber. you hated how the clones that were once your friends were now hunting you, and every time you ignited your saber against one you died a little inside.
“there’s someone in here!” a girl. she sounded young, but you didn’t recognize the voice. she was blonde and wearing a bright smile; what was she so happy about?
the others followed, and as the clones showed their faces, you raised your weapon.
“woah woah woah, kid, easy now,” you didn’t know which one spoke, but you assumed the one with his hands out. you watched as he carefully removed his helmet, revealing his face. adorned with a skull tattoo and a bandana, it somehow made you feel safer, but you still kept your lightsaber raised.
“we’re not gonna hurt you,” skull-tattoo spoke again. his voice was soft, like the clones she used to work alongside.
“i don’t believe you,” you whispered. you were terrified. why hadn’t they killed you yet? maybe you were going to be the empire’s next prisoner.
“i know, but we’re not like the others. we’ve had our chips removed,” skull-face spoke again. he seemed to be the leader, given how the rest of the men took off their helmets and followed his lead.
you clung onto the word ‘chips.’ you hadn’t heard of them, but based off of a rumor, it’s what made the clones turn against the jedi. three simple words rewrote everything the clones believed in.
hunter could see the gears turning in your head. maker he felt bad for you. he didn’t think there were any jedi left, but he was proven wrong. he wished he had the words to say to you, but he knew no matter what he said you were never going to trust him.
“my name is hunter, this is tech, echo, wrecker, omega, and rex.” hunter introduced, gesturing to the other members of the group. the one named rex looked normal, given his armor, but the way his face was twisted into a frown made her feel safe for some reason; rex knew things.
“y/n,” you nodded slowly. you deactivated your lightsaber, but didn’t clip it back to your belt.
“your leg,” the one with the goggles — tech — pointed out, “it’s bleeding,” his observation brought you back to reality, which was that you had a fever from how badly your cut was infected. you wobbled, your vision blurred as the adrenaline started to wear off but you stood your ground.
“sit down, kid, you need help,” rex spoke this time. you analyzed him as you sat down, not being able to hold yourself up for much longer.
“you were up the chain of command,” you observed as tech got to work on your leg.
“i was captain of the 501st,” he knelt down beside you.
“anakin skywalker’s battalion. you guys were legends,” you hissed as tech applied disinfectant on your cut.
“i guess you could say that,” rex shrugged. you could tell he was tired. you believed him when he said he wouldn’t hurt you. you flicked your eyes to the others as they knelt around you, their eyes filled with exhaustion and even a hint of fear; they were on your side.
“i didn’t mean to threaten you,” you mumbled as tech wrapped up your leg.
“don’t apologize. if i was in your position i’d do the same thing, maybe more,” hunter sighed, “i’m sorry about…well, all of this,” he chuckled dryly.
“not your fault. the clones were pawns,” you grunted as the one called echo helped you up, “and unfortunately still being used as such,”
silence fell over the group as echo helped you out of the cruiser. you didn’t believe you’d be leaving that hell-hole, but it was definitely time for hope.
“thank you,” you called to the group.
“ah, don’t mention it! we love helping people,” wrecker laughed. you liked him. he’d lift your spirits.
“you don’t mind tagging along, do you?” hunter asked as he glanced back at you.
“it’d be nice to work alongside a jedi again,” echo spoke softly. you didn’t press his choice of words, you could sense he’d been through a lot like the others, but it seemed a little more sensitive. so, you smiled and nodded at him.
“like the good ol’ days,” you chuckled, even earning one from echo. like the good ol’ days.
