Important Stageplay Update
I have been informed by the manager of Rappig Crossing Con that Kana and I's work has been stolen, with the video cropped and our credits removed from the video. This version of the translation has evidently been passed along, as the con manager told me they got it from someone they know, already cropped. The con manager is looking into this further for us, and looking to see if we can find the original cropper.
If any of you find a cropped copy of this play that removes the credits, please bring it to our attention as soon as possible.
We have repeatedly expressed that we want to keep this stageplay on the downlow for various reasons, and to direct people to the original post to view the additional information and videos. Evidently, that was not respected, because someone removed our credits and the uncredited version made its way to the fan run Tales convention.
For anyone who may have seen the schedule prior to today, we were not asked for this play to be shown with our work/raw video at a public event (the copy the con manager had been given already no longer left them the means to contact us). If we had been, we could have worked something out in advance, but at this time, we have asked them to remove the video and are working out changes to our credit subtitles.
Before anyone says "but it's a video everyone should have access to", no, it's not. It's a blu-ray that was purchased by our raw provider (the thing some people feel entitled to having for free), and while Bamco is generally lenient with their media being shared, the stageplay company is independent of Bamco.
All of us are very unhappy about this, and also uncomfortable that someone saw fit to crop our credits out and pass it around, to the point it made it where it did. If the credits had not been cropped to begin with, it would not have made its way as an anonymous upload to the convention, and that bothers all of us.
I am in talks with the con manager to see if we can have an alternative set up if the three of us are on board and feel comfortable enough after this, but changes will be made, and that will carry into all future releases.
As of right now, the stageplay post with the links has been privated, and they will be public again once we have adjusted the credits to prevent cropping removal from being possible. We realize many of you watch/read our translations in good faith, and we are sorry we have to have disruptive credits to prevent bad faith actors from hiding evidence of the people who provided this material.
Ultimately, someone had to actively go out of their way to remove our credits (that were not even in the way of anything, which to us amplifies this matter, as there is no "but I couldn't see something" excuse to remove those credits, leaving us to believe this was done with ill intent), as well as even have the thought to make the decision that they wanted to remove the credits and pass it around.
We are all immensely disrespected by this, and while we want to continue sharing this media with the good people out there who respect their translators and raw providers, unfortunately, we will have to be more aggressive in our crediting going forward if we continue to work on these. We do not know how long ago this happened or how far the uncredited version has spread, and it has left us very discouraged and upset.
As far as my own solo translations go, I will also be more aggressive with those credits. It's not the solution I wanted, but I can no longer trust that any of our material is going to simply be respected.
I will leave an update when the links are available again, and we're sorry that those of you who have been so supportive and kind to us now have to deal with this as well.
