If you take issue with the female Jem’Hadar in Starfleet Academy, you’re either sexist, or you were only paying surface level attention and not at all imaginative about the implications of how the Jem’Hadar reproduce. But you’re probably just sexist.
So, in DS9, it is explained that the Jem’Hadar are essentially genetically engineered test tube babies with accelerated growth, immediately hooked on a drug to keep them on a tight leash, and used as over zealous slave soldiers. They were, until recently, exclusively male.
Well, why were there only men before? Were the founders worried that if they introduced women into the mix, they’ll crave sex too much or something? They already did so much with their genetics to make them perfectly obedient, so it wouldn’t make sense that they’d lose it for some sex. If, for some reason, they were written with that in mind, they also could have written in that the ketracel white kills their sex drive.
So, now that we’ve gotten it out of the way that there was never a very good provided reason as to why there weren’t female Jem’Hadar in the first place, let’s get to the fact that there is one now. How can this be? There weren’t women before, so assuming they were bred with the ability to naturally reproduce, how can there be a woman now? Someone genetically engineered one to be a woman. That simple.
Maybe there’s more to it, maybe there was another war with the Dominion and the Federation made them free the Jem’Hadar and genetically diversify them. Maybe the defect that one guy had that made him immune to the white proliferated through Jem’Hadar breeding facilities like a virus and they free themselves and genetically engineer women to reproduce naturally. Maybe she’s just trans.
Regardless of your thoughts on the matter, even if this was the lore breaking catastrophe that chuds think it is, remember that NuTrek’s issue isn’t in its adherence to lore (or lack thereof), it’s the desecration of the values Star Trek is built on. It’s the fact that time and again, they will prove that they can make good Star Trek (Pic S3, all of LD, SNW S1-2), but they just refuse to and would rather serve you slop intended for “new audiences” who, if they ever actually got into Star Trek, it wouldn’t be because of the musical episode or the muppet parody, it’ll be because someone like me sat their ass down and showed them Measure of a Man or Duet.
