A regular beer

“I can’t see the menu, I just want a regular beer!” the old man next to me says loudly, irate. And in that moment, I am possessed by the eye roll of every exasperated bartender in existence. My eyes roll back into my head. They keep rolling, out of my skull, down the street, out of the state, the country; they eventually manage to roll off of the planet entirely. They float into space, where they locate a new planet not too far, one that isn’t inhabited by whiny people masquerading laziness as some sort of service industry triggered, catered to disability. A planet where a grown man can read a menu and make a choice accordingly. They start a new life there. Presumably, they find a new body. I sit at the bar, eyeless. Bloody. Drinking.
