Okay I just need to put this out there but I love when humans are kind. I especially love accidental acts of kindness.

My cat, Chester, is about 10 years old and he isn’t doing too well. The vets don’t know what’s wrong with him so he’s on a number of vitamins and preventative medication but at this point it’s just a matter of time until we have to say our goodbyes. This is something that my family and I have been really struggling with. My siblings and I in particular because he’s our first pet.

20 minutes ago I decided to submit him as a character to artfight on a whim, something I’ve seen other people do. There’s only a few days left in the event so I wasn’t really expecting anything to come of it.

Not even 10 minutes after I uploaded his reference pics I received an attack on him. It’s just a quick little doodle and looking at the artist’s page, it looks like they were just trying to pump out as many last minute sketches as possible, but it’s still art of Chester.

They don’t know that I’ve been agonizing over what I’m going to do when he passes, that I cry myself to sleep with him curled up at my feet. They drew him just because. A silly little doodle of my baby. I don’t even know how to put into words the exact emotion I’m feeling, but I saw that notification and started crying all over again.

I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.

It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.

looking for animal references on image searches has always kind of sucked but it's much worse after AI image generation technology has begun to actually past muster, which is why i always just go straight to inaturalist. can't recommend this highly enough. you get to both find out about niche species you've never even heard of and also see some really good photographs like this one
