sorry but it’s actually so horrific how little of a sense of community people have, how little regard they extend towards the other humans around them. killing people for being loud on the subway or turning around in your driveway. loading your gun and waiting at the door because a child ran your doorbell unexpectedly. ring cameras, neighborhoodapp, community watch group Facebook pages. you’ve assigned yourself the role of the one true peacekeeper and casted everyone else around you as a threat to be controlled. there’s no connection or love or compassion. just a deep distrust and hatred.

and the people who face the most significant consequences from this are the ones who are already deemed as outsiders. people of color, especially Black people, disabled people, people with mental illnesses, homeless people.

more people need to develop a strong set of personal values rather than a strong devotion to their politics. if you have security in your morals and basic values then your political perspective naturally grows from that later.

it’s not possible to think critically and be open minded if you use politicians, influencers and manifestos as your sole moral compass. i used to think people were just ignoring their morals and selling their souls for social media likes or that they had been fooled by misinformation until i realized that so, so many people’s identities are not based on personal core beliefs and their own innate sense of right vs wrong but rather based on having undying allegiance to a political party. terrifying to see how many people think they agree with every tenet of an ideology when that just… isn’t realistic. politics change, culture shifts, religions and ideals move like riptides but basic inner values hold steady regardless of the arena.

i’m fucking horrified that it’s become more common to parrot political pundits and to believe in whatever has the most likes this week than to have a moral compass and set of beliefs you use to analyze your choices and the world around you.

the level of cognitive dissonance, ease of spreading disinformation, rabid infighting and “chronically online” takes that this new way of approaching politics and social justice is staggering and is how sh!t like january sixth happens yet no one says anything.

this sh!t isn’t like picking sports teams or betting on horses. it’s life or death.

what do you believe in? what are the traits you find most admirable and most important? what are the top five values you hold? what are your criteria for hard decisions? what are acceptable sacrifices and what aren’t? who the fuck are you and what do you think is right or wrong or in between? why do you hate that person and love this one? what does the world need most? fuck the incessant inflow of people telling you the answers to the big questions, fuck using the approval of internet strangers as a metric for measuring your worth and your morality. what do you believe in? the answer may surprise you.

honestly I would like to look more into radical feminist literature, activism and art but I don’t think I would make a very good radfem. I don’t subscribe to your transphobia, or your tendency to call little boys evil, and I still plan on getting cosmetic surgeries in the near future bc it’s my body and I can do what I want with it. But I’m with you on topics such as abortion and criticizing the porn industry. No one else seems to be talking about these things.

I am fully against sex work but have nothing against sex workers. My being against sex work has nothing to do with the conservative POV about eww immoral whores tempting men ruining the foundation of society. My belief is this:

Transactional sex cannot be consensual. Full stop. Money implies that you would not consent without compensation. Stop thinking of “rape” like a cop would- that it only counts under the strictest circumstances and verbally saying No and fighting back. You can SAY “yes i agree to have sex with you” but if you do not want to have sex, you are not attracted to that person, would never have sex with them without being paid, that is rape. That is non consensual sex.

And the amount of Sex workers that can afford to leave the lifestyle that only have fun safe sex with relatively young attractivish men that they choose is SO rare compared to the reality of it all that its really not worth discussing if in some hypothetical situation prostitution could be empowering.

I'm watching the Christmas mass from Vatican with my mom and I honestly I cannot stop being bothered by the fact they're all males. Like Christianity is just a bunch of men walking in groups of men holding up a book written by men about an exclusively male god and his male son. Im watching this imagining how it would look like if it were all women walking in all women groups, singing about a goddess etc... I love the thought but for a moment it stirred me as weird. I can't imagine women incensing a doll of a baby girl and kissing it and then singing about her eternal glory as the heavenly Mother. In western culture men really are the standard and Christianity is to blame for it to a massive extent.
