Sakura and Kotaro’s relationship
As it has been basically proven in this week’s episode, Sakura is no stranger to Kotaro. Even Yugiri has noticed that he behaves differently towards her than towards the other girls.
My main theory is that Kotaro is Sakura’s brother - twin or one or two years older or younger, definitely at an age to be high or middle school and wear the uniform shoes for male students, as seen in the foyer in Episode 1.
At the end of Episode 10, we are shown a few flashbacks of Sakura regaining her memories. Sakura is shown to be active child, most likely acting in the classroom, when all of the sudden she is shown to be very sick.
Next, Sakura is older, studying hard, as indicated by the piles of books iwth notes on her desk. But behind those books are two pill bottles.
Sakura is very likely chronically ill, has to take medication and probably work harder than most others to be able to pass the entrance exams for the High School of her dreams.
But Sakura doesn’t get accepted, and walks away from the crowd of victorious students seeing there name on the list of those accepted, tears in her eyes.
In her last memory, she is seen in her living room, in awe as she watches Iron Frill’s concert, likely discovering them for the first time that day.. Sakura seems to have discovered Iron Frill when she was at her lowest,and their music probably helped her gain more confidence and get through the tough times with both her illness and the rejection from the school and recover. And she does.
By the time we meet her in Episode 1, Sakura is a cheerful, motivated student, about to tuflfill her dreams of becoming an idol. There are no more bottles of medication to be found in her room, and llife seems to be bright and beautiful again for her.
But then the accident happens.
And Kotaro, who has seen his sister struggle through all of this without being able to take the pain away from her, can’t bear it when she dies without her dream being fulfilled.
He joins “ZLS Corporation”, the company that she had sent her audition to, and vowes to make Sakura’s dreams come true one day.
