This is an eternal sunshine inspired au! Had a lot of fun indulging my favourite themes this year. Post-BO takedown, Kaito undergoes an elective memory procedure to erase his memories of Conan. After Shinichi regains his old body, he grieves the past they shared and struggles to move on.

I’m struggling to define the particular energy this title exerts, yet the smoothing music in the background in my room feels oddly fitting. It’s as if someone joined in mid conversation of two strangers, said this phrase and went away with a grinning smile and thoughts like “now this random fact as well as the true nature of my intensions shall haunt your mind for the next few sleepless nights”…. And I low-key love this very specific feeling

Slowy Crumbling Down

Pushing it too far until it tore you apart

"All you do is head straight towards your goal, not noticing all these people who wanted to support you. Now look at you, no one to rely on when you want it. How convenient for you, oh great detective. Would it kill you to look their way and listen to their words? Listen to MY words? I wanted to be there when you were hurt. I wanted to be there when you wanted comfort. I wanted to be there as your equal. Was I asking too much to remain by your side as you go through everything, thick and thin?" Kaito couldn't stop the words from flowing. He wanted to comfort Shinichi instead of tearing up his already downtrodden state. He was supposed to lift him up, not bring him down.

Shinichi opens his mouth, his head still hanging off of Kaito's shoulder, "I thought I can handle it.. I didn't want to involve people in the mess I made. I didn't want anyone to get hurt. I didn't want you to hate me."

"Hate you?" Kaito pulls away to look Shinichi straight, "Shinichi, I can never hate you."

Hi! I joined this year's Kaishin Secret Santa(2024) @dcmkkaishinevents ! For my gift, i made an animatic for @slepnded ! Ngl, this stumped me bc i want the best for the person receiving the gift. When I first pitched the idea of a Kaishin murder mystery inspired by the classic Noir films of the ‘30s for this year's Kaishin Big Bang 2024, I had no idea that this would be the direction this project would go in. It’s grown into a world and story I never thought I’d have the chops to visually develop, all thanks to the hard work of the incredible @kinsdura in bringing this story to life on paper and bearing with my crazy ideas. Most of the work has been quite technical and bts, but it has truly been a team effort to get this done.

Let It Consume You has become a collaboration I can definitely say I am very proud of. As always, thank you to Mac @kaishinbigbang for hosting this wonderful event! Additionally, I want to take the time to hype up our story, the link to which is here! You won’t regret having a look at @kinsdura’s fic; it’s a joy to read and full of suspense, great pacing, and a flirtatiously dangerous predator-and-prey dynamic between Kaito and Shinichi.

This will not be the last you will hear of LICU! Hope to continue developing our little harbour town and this au into something we can all step back and appreciate in the future :) Maybe I’ll post those too 😂
