â Carmilla in the novella (LeFanu)
goodness, the joy I felt upon remembering the password to this dear lil account đ€
â will you ever forgive me? â
She frowned, concerned, baffled. âDo you even need to ask?â Forgiveness was a tricky concept that Laura wasnât always so adept at conveying, her stubborn nature making it all too easy to hold a grudge, but with CarmillaâŠ
âAlways.âÂ
â prepare to die. â
     âHa, ha, very funny.â
Thereâs pause, just for a second, but the hesitation is noticeable. Bunny would never actually fatally wound herâŠright?Â
â i died that day. â
   âDied, huh?â
Tearing a corner from her steno pad, because steno pads are much more on theme for an aspiring reporter and details like that totally matter, she wads it up into a small projectile and flings it towards her twin. âI dunno Bun, you look pretty alive to me. Very corporeal.â

re-watching the series and contemplating đ€... ...Iâve missed this.

â I have no idea what youâre talking about. â Truthfully, she didnât, sure she was a master at getting exactly the information she needed out of someone ( by using threats and often helping them talk by being a little too overly intimidating towards them); with Laura however whenever she seemed to refuse to share whatever seemed to be bothering her with her, often sweet words and caring gestures seemed to help her. Thank god it did. Her mind was too pretty to handle everything all on its own after all. At her words, she nods, thumb running against the back of her hand as she never moves her eyes away from her. â Lead the way, Cupcake. â
âWell...Iâm on to you Karnstein.â Sincere, dark eyes bore through skeptical defenses and the anxiety that had been brewing deep within Lauraâs stomach all evening surged. There was not a trace of mischievousness or amusement in Carmillaâs gaze, only gentle concern; so focused on trying to ramble her way out of an explanation, sheâd apparently forgotten just who it was she was yammering to. The bond between them, the trust...what a fool she was, working to shut Carmilla out. With a defeated sigh, she started towards the door, her very human grip squeezing perhaps a bit too tightly on vampiric fingers. âLets just hope itâs still in the basement.â

â I am not doing anything, creampuff. I am just asking questions  I need answers to. â With the way she was acting, it only made  her believe she was right about her hiding something; the typical  behavior was there, from babbling too much, to avoiding the subject  like the plague, to attempting to look calm and collected when she was  an utter mess instead. Dark eyes gazed warmly into her own, her hand  carefully placing over Lauraâs, in an attempt to calm her racing mind. â Hey â Come on. When has that ever stopped me from helping? Weâve been   through far more complicated things than this. Just talk to me. â
âOh no, I know what this is. Using your womanly wiles to pry the details out of me.â There was a reason Carmilla was utilized in countless nefarious schemes throughout her prolonged lifespan; with her sweet sentences and tender caresses, she was a charming predator, an irresistible danger. However resistant Laura liked to think herself, she wasnât truly immune, not in the slightest. One calm touch to her quivering hand and she was quickly and soundly defeated, only just resisting the urge to seek more comforting contact. âFine. Come with me.â

âLaura! Hey,â Theyâre relieved that their twin answered the phone for them but in their head, they curse as soon as they recognized the drowsy and fatigue drawl of her voice dripping through the receiver. âIâll cut to the chase,â They start with a sigh, knowing that there was no time to play games at the moment. Laura wasnât in the mood to hear it and they had no time to waste. âI didnât do anything. For once.â
They hope Laura believes them since they barely even believe themself as they hear it come out of their mouth. Theyâre always the cause of some kind of reckless behavior. Their father and sister are used to getting calls from the police or other figures of authority throughout their life. Itâs practically routine. But, it was always little, petty rebellious acts. Though this time around⊠âTheyâre accusing me of murder.â
Given their track record, Laura had every right to brush off her siblingâs claim to innocence; trouble followed Bunny where ever they wandered, like a faithful companion that never strayed too far from its beloved masterâs side. This wasnât the first time sheâd been contacted from the local Sheriff stationâs office and it wouldnât last, there was absolutely no reason to believe they were undeserving of punishment. But past experiences didnât matter, nor did any sort of evidence indicating guilt. If they said they didnât do it, that was that; it might not always be obvious but the trust between them was unbreakable. âOkay you didnât do it, you didnât murder â wait, what?â
Concerned, confused, and extremely panicked, Laura tumbled off the bed, landing harshly onto cold hardwood. âSorry, I mustâve miss heard you. Still sleepy, yâknow? What were you saying?â
Sound obliterated early morningâs tranquility, sharp and cruel. Even with a thick barrier of feathered blankets over head the ringing pierced right through, assaulting groggy senses mercilessly. Just a little longer...only a few more rings and sheâd be free to drift back into unconsciousness, to avoid stressful realities for just a little while longer...
A weird guilt bubbled into existence, pestering Lauraâs addled mind as relentlessly as the shrill ringing. Untangling lazy limbs from warm sheets, she reached clumsily towards the nightstand, grumbling all the while, âWhoever it is better be dying.â Tapping the âacceptâ button with more force than entirely necessary, Laura was immediately greeted by an all too familiar, blase voice. âGee, lucky me! So. What did you do this time?â

There were many scenarios in which running away seemed the most reasonable course of action. That said, Laura was rarely reasonable and much too stubborn to ever consider retreating towards easy comfort. Breath heavy, sandy swaths of hair windswept and wild, she hesitated just long enough to glance backwards, back towards safety, her home. Carmilla.Â
âI have to. You know I have to.â
