She knew that face anywhere. Despite what happened at the tournament, Coco couldn’t help but still find he other girl endearing- her bitchy attitude was quite cute and the fact that she talked back was almost extraordinary.

“Hey there, it’s been a while, huh?” She cooed, waving her fingers.

oh God. even ' Cocopuffs ' was here. though, compared to the rag-tag team of RWBY, at least this kid had a        bearable attitude.

    " Hey, Coco! " ( does it bother you, gunner girl? for returning viper to speak your name so sweetly? ) " So great to see you again—— I mean, maybe if we weren't in this rut, but y'know. Hey, no hard feelings about the tournament, right? "

⌜🎸⌟ ⋯ Feet touch back to ground, hands shoved in pockets as he stands with an aloof air. Even if it was hard to bullshit a bullshitter, her words inflate his ego more and he’s fine with it. It’s something he needs to regain himself in this place.

“Mhmmm.” He flashes a sharp grin at her, showing off his pointed fangs and teeth. “I’m not just a musician. I think my mom would absolutely lose her junk if she heard you say that.” A short laugh. 

“I’m much more of a threat than you could imagine, baby. Even if you took away all my powers, I still got bite and a mad crazy scratch. I’m evil, the son of a demon, and I’m the Vampire King.” He lets out a low, sinister laugh, his eyes changing to red on black for a moment. “I’m handy in a fight, I had to be growing up. So, what can you do, girl? Careful words you spit out, girl like you has gotta have a bite worse than her bark, hm?”

    " Oh, ' son of a demon. ' How about that? "

some laughter blends between blurred words, but the disbelief is real—— with what remains of the nihilist she once was. bared fanged and flying high!; what an interesting kid. his grin was just so sickening to stomach, her skin could turn as pale as his own..— gross.

    " I'm a mind reader. " ( flatly remarked, though eyes still sparkle. ) " I can tell you exactly what you're thinking. Want to try it out? "

of course, it's a truth stretched and twisted, but illusionists never share their secrets—— Emerald will just make him        see exactly what she wants him to.

★ ★ 　 There goes Clay, zooming down the sidewalk on rollerblades… straight into a garbage can, head first. It’s almost impressive how he managed not to avoid the only obstacle in his path.

—— or that she wants to. but it’s early in the morning, and he’s the first soul Emerald has seen all day. besides, her fingers          were itching.

    “ You need a hand? And maybe——  a helmet? ”

   another starter call! ` ` as i wait for replies.    capping at three but castmates are exempt. ` `    ( implying the pesky goody-goods want to    tango with me -bats my eyelashes evilly- )

⌜🎸⌟ ⋯ His smile falters for a moment at that lovely strike to his ego. Though he regains that sharp grin after a beat. This girl obviously wanted to play and, oh, he was going to play.

“Well, baby, then it’s my lucky day. ‘Cause I wrote that song myself. So, yeah, I’ll keep on singin’ then.” He leans himself back into the air, laying lazily on his back as he starts to tap out a rhythm on his legs.

“You keep on sayin’ those words, but I know you like it, girl.

Pretty little smile playin’ on those lips,  when you should be movin’ your hips, swingin’ to these beats that mesmerise,  catching you in your lies, it’s clear in your eyes baby, you’re cute,  but you ain’t tellin’ the truth.”

just then, Emerald notices—— he's levitating. his own grin plastered on pallid face, and she allows hers to falter; though, she fakes one of her smiles: signature perfection with pride. not that she dared to be curious in his little ‘ magic trick, ’ snake had more important things to worry about—— useful he would be in her attempt to gain bearings of the situation.

    “ Oh, you're cheeky. I like it. ( liar. ) Hey, what's a musician like yourself doing stuck here? You can't possibly hold a threat with—— that, as your weapon. ”

it's a honeyed tone now full of interest—— genuine, in the least          bit.

Emerald Sustrai. The thief to his butcher, partner in crime and the girl who was in complete denial about being into him. Although, she probably hates the idea last one. Not that he cared, of course. Still, there was an actual, genuine pulse within him when he saw that familiar face of hers. Happiness? Not quite, but his expression did light up from the usual smug smirk he always sported when his silver met her red.

“’Sup Em–”

Ah, but before he could even welcome her into this dreadful city, she had already launched herself into a tirade of bitter complaining. Understandable, considering their less than ideal situation. So, Mercury closed his mouth and crossed his arms with a very amused expression, waiting for his partner to finish her little tantrum.

When she finally finished, Mercury let out a little chuckle and shook his head.

     “Oh man. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss that. You being a ball of sunshine and smiles.” Sarcasm coated his words, accompanied by his ever present smirking. He gave his little gem a casual shrug, contrasting the tense atmosphere she just released.

     “Anyway, yeah, it sucks. I know. I’ve been here for months,” he informed her and very briefly, frowning as he recalled just how long he’d been trapped here. “But… can’t say it’s been all a living hell. Met some really, really interesting people.”

arms remained tucked to chest—— beyond her usual snarky and collective self, but she was just that livid. mood shifts as quickly as it appeared, now transitioning with a mere scowl on round face.

   “ Months. ( she purposely ignores all other comments. ) I've been here two days, and I'm already sick of it. I like the city, but if only I wasn't..— hm. Kidnapped. ”

venom-dripped words escaping lips like a slither, her face crinkles. as comfortable as he seemed, she was far from ‘ sunshine, ’ but her breaths run smoother at his excuse of consoling.

   “ At least you're here. Where's Cinder? Or..— anyone else we would know for that matter. Ugh—— don't tell me they're here too. ”

crossing her arms, somehow mimicking his own composure. head lolls in annoyance to his          presumed answer, with long verdant tresses brushing over caramel shoulders.

oh my god, MERCURY.

unknowingly speaking, with the first few syllables as a whisper and his name emphasized with relief and astonishment—— of course he would be here. he’d always flock around her, whether she enjoyed it or not. but, hey. she’d far from complain now; with the reunion of viper and grounded ‘ Hermes ’ ( the tolerance always wavers ), Emerald can all but relax. somewhat.

     “ We're getting out of here. ”

not one for welcomes when pinned with silver, but that was her little trademarked charm.

     “ It’s stupid, I hate it. We’re ‘ supposedly ’ brought to this place from who-the-hell-ever, and yet the citizens are so..— so...——!                                                        HAPPY.                                                                       How. Can. They. Be. HAPPY? All these losers coming up to me with some half-baked smile, asking me: ‘ Hey! Nice to meet you! ’ ‘ What’s up? ’ Well, I’m stuck in some crappy place, not knowing where to go, walking around like some aimless bimbo in order to get the poor suckers to help me out. Do they? No. Everything is just, so, STUPID. ”

followed by one exasperated grunt, with hands that moved erratically throughout. if only she could strangle a man—— but, Mercury was the first familiar face she’d seen. the dial on           behavior shifts unwillingly to the left as she, very slightly, simmers.

     “ I rather sip tea with red-hooded pipsqueak and one-armed blonde than stay here—— and I HATE the pipsqueak. ”

     “ It was over there, from right around the corner. ”

fingers curling around worn leather, slightly twitching at having almost been caught nabbing his wallet—— if one could call it that; nothing was stolen, because there was nothing to steal.           figures.

     “ You should watch your stuff—— There're thieves around these parts. ”

     “ Well, that was cute. Who sang it..— originally, I mean. ”

smile stays pressed onto plush lips, arms crossed from behind. there’s that glint in her eye—— ‘ nah; he’s a boy, he           can take it. ’

an irritated edge, yet not enough to cut the annoyance plastered on round face. she’s clearly irked, with this whole ‘ don’t know where i am don’t know where partner and boss are ’ plot—— all the books in the world, she’d read, but Emerald would sooner           starve than learn to decipher madcap language.

even her fingers ‘guised as dainty, reaching over towards fallen redhead—— offering to hoist her back to toes after..—           accidentally bumping bodies.

     “ I’m not from around here. Would you mind filling me in? ”

perfect rubies coast up-and-down the blonde; quirking a brow, hands find placement onto bare hips. any shorter, that dress, and she may as well have been walking nude—— playing smart, though, in holding venomous tongue; Emerald was just           as ' modest ' in attire.

     “ Let me warn you: he’s not much. His wallet was emptier than my stomach. ”
