Treasures of Darkness After a series of death threats by a group of rival mudlarkers, Barnaby and Winter are drawn into a complex murder investigation. A jar containing human remains points to a heated treasure hunt dispute that turned deadly.

Lawn of the Dead Barnaby and Winter investigate when Wilf, a groundsman and referee for Midsomer Deverell’s lawn bowling club, is found murdered after a close contest. The detectives uncover deadly rivalries, forbidden romances, and daring village secrets.

Death Strikes Three When a booby-trapped cuckoo clock kills a guest at Godley Manor’s engagement party and turns the celebration into chaos, Barnaby and Winter must uncover a web of hidden pasts, family feuds, and ticking secrets before the killer strikes again.

Top of the Class After a strict headteacher is brutally murdered during a PTA meeting, Barnaby and Winter dig into the case. To catch the killer, the detectives must sift through school scandals and witnesses with deadly secrets.

This month, Romancing the Gothic is running talks on detective fiction and murder mysteries, including Transgressive Genre and Identity in Midsomer Murders with Dr Evan Gledhill.

The Midsomer Murders Fanworks discord is open to join! This server is 18+ and has a focus on fanworks, though also provides channels for more general show and off-topic discussion. So far it's quiet but friendly, and we're considering scheduling some watch-alongs!

Welcome to the 2023 Midsomer Murders Fic Exchange! If you're new, take a look at the FAQs and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have questions! I may be out of range for a few days (hence the long sign-up time) but I will be back to you as soon as I can!

Sign-ups are open and will remain open until the 25th August. Requests will be distributed on August 26th and final works are due on 21st December.

Remember to read the guidelines and don't offer to write anything you're not comfortable with as you may be paired with someone wanting something similar (eg. don't offer to write 'E' rated fics if you're not comfortable with 'E' rated fics, etc.)

There’s only one month left to sign up for A Body in Midsomer! This is a casefic fest, in which participants create a narrative fanwork (eg. fanfic, comic, podfic, etc) based around a fictional murder investigation inspired by a plot from the twitter Midsomer Plot bot.
