Peter heaved a heavy sigh in her direction. “She has a name, Tink.” Unable and seeing no point in it, he didn’t bother trying to hide the way he rolled his eyes. He knew her outburst was coming and yet that only made it all the more tiresome.

Tinker Bell’s jealousy was often inconvenient and eternally perplexing for Peter, but they both knew he delighted in it more than he resented it. If he had really hated it, he wouldn’t have spent so much time in the Lagoon. He took deliberate time to cultivate it. But the last thing he needed right now was for the faerie to push him by doing something to Wendy when he was trying so desperately to blind her to the violence he’d erased from her memories.

If apologies, which he still hadn’t offered, weren’t going to work then Peter would try another tactic. “Don’t forget your place and I won’t have to.” Gone was the soft whine, replaced by another deep growl, “You’re not going to hurt her, Tinker Bell. And if I find you even thinking about it,” He paused, trying to find the right threat, “I’ll pluck your wings.” His voice was incredibly childish as he said it.

“ No! You wouldn’t! ” Tink cried out, her fury tinged with fear. She was often so blinded by her own rage to remember that of Peter’s. If she really were to try and harm something he held dear or wanted untouched, even if it was that useless girl, Tink really would be in trouble.

Even so, Tinker Bell was never going to be able to sit idly by while she was threatened. “ If you think you could catch me before her fat head thuds to the ground, you’re fooling yourself! ” It was the same old dance with these two. Who could boast the bigger threat? Who would give up and make the first, impulsive move?

As violently irascible as she was, Tink still had to have some sense of self-preservation. She hadn’t planned a poisoning or beheading for the day, nor did she think her energy should be wasted on someone like Wendy. But, if it came down to it, she wasn’t about to surrender. If the one person she’d spent her life’s loyalty on wanted to cast her aside, he wasn’t doing so without a fight.

“ Well, there’s really no such thing as ‘that great of a pirate,’ now is there? ” She gave no pause before letting out a small cackle. While certain aspects of the pirate life did interest Tinker Bell, she would just never fully understand what was so great about being just one piece of a bigger whole. Tink was not the best team player...

“ Don’t you have some sort of crew to answer to? ” Her tone was no less judgemental or repulsed than ever. “ ‘Not like you answer to Peter Pan anymore... ” Those cerulean eyes of hers went cold. She realized who she was talking to. Well, as best as her minuscule bank of memories allowed for. Her mind was too full of meaningful encounters and worthwhile allies and opponents to keep track of every individual she came across. She seldom could be bothered to learn a name, nor could she care to match a face to one.

Tink knew he was a pirate and knew she’d heard his pitiful excuse for a voice before. But it was different. It was older now. Still, somehow too soft and not at all worthy of speaking to any sort of real, deserved repentance. “ Inadequate boys always makes for the most pathetic of pirates. ” She scathed.

Tink was still flabbergasted that the girl currently bogarting all of Peter’s attention was even here. That she was back. ‘Suppose it’s true; no perfect garden is without its weeds. And, if you give a weed an inch, it takes a whole yard.

“ You truly believe that? You think that soft, cowardly, little girl really intends to spend the rest of her days here? ” She was puffing out more scoffs than she was punctuations at the thought.

“ That mewling little parrot of yours only wants the one thing from you, from this place. She wants an escape. She’s not here for you, Peter. She’s not here to embrace the life of the Lost ones. She just wants stories. Not even her stories, Peter! ” The longer her diatribe went on, the more vexed and uncomfortable Tink became. This was the calmest she’d managed to compose herself since the Darling ( and what a tragically inaccurate surname was that ) girl had re-emerged.

“ It’s just a game, Peter! ” She kicked the rocks in front of her, her upset manifesting as her rouge, before bolting off the ground. “ It’s not even the same one you’re playing and it’s disgusting. ” The faerie repeated herself. That was the only feeling she was certain she had in the moment. She was disgusted by how fooled she knew Peter Pan was by this act.
