Not quite sire how hot of a take this is, nor if you know about hazbin hotel but one problem i have with Valentino in the show is he’s supposed to be latino/hispanic if i’m not wrong and his only character traits outside of being awkward at times or being gay is he’s an abuser who exploits his victims and takes joy in it and of course this isn’t to say that poc cant be predators or abusers, because they can be and it can be explored in writing.
HOWEVER
My biggest gripe as someone his is Hispanic is how it reinforces the negative stereotype held over here in america by pro-icers racists is that POC, ESPECIALY RIGHT NOW WITH ARGUMENTS SUPPORTING ICE Is that poc and mexicans/latino/hispanic people are sexual predators and violent criminals that must be kept out of america because they came here to hurt people. I just find it weird how the Gay latino/hispanic character is reduced/only ever shown to be a sexual predator and exploitor and also at the same time only being reduced to being gay over vox during the times he had serious moments. It feels so insensitive to me as someone who is hispanic to have this sort of character during a time where both queer and latino/hispanics and poc are being labelled as predators very heavily right now here in america. Plus it doesnt help a lot of queer spaces are in fact racist to poc queer. (Dont even get me started on how Valentino’s mannerisms and speech patterns/tone of voice reaemble the stereotypically fashion obsessed sassy gay man)
