The essence of knowledge is to have it and to use it.Promoted more frequently, greater enjoyment of job, and a better life. Do more with less and succeed at workHealthier, happier, and more product lives in and out of work.A tough manager where the organization wins and the people lose. Generally autocratic. On top of the situation and āhard nosedā. These managers are āprofit-mindedā.Nice managers whose people win while the organizations loose. They are democratic managers, supportive and humanistic.Most managers are interested in results or people. Both are partially effective.You get more done when you feel good about yourself. So help people feel good about themselves. Productivity is not just the amount of work done but the quality. One minute goal settingAlways make responsibilities clear and tell people what they are responsible for. Record all goals on 1 single page. All goals and performance expectations must fit on one page of paper.80/20 goal setting rules. 80% of results from 20% of work. All one page āone-minute goal settingā is to create a philosophy of no surprises. Performance standards are clear so that employees know exactly what to do and how to do it. Only do what you know will give you the solution you are looking for. Show your employees how to solve problems then allow them to solve the problems and encourage them to do so instead of having them waste your time. One minute praisingYou want people to enjoy their work, understand when they are doing well, when they are doing poorly. You want to look to catch someone doing something right. Keep the focus on the positive. Catch people doing things right. A one-minute praising is a contact from the manager. A one-minute manager hand on your shoulder or a pat on the back. Then tell them about how good you feel about the work theyāve done. There is no annual performance review to see how people are doing. The manager specifies exactly what the employee is doing right. The manager must be consistent and continue to do this so long as the employee is doing well. Respond only to where the employee is. Not where the manager is. This should only continue until the employee is starting a new project or new to the job. Praise drives production. Praise only takes less than a minute. One minute managers train their staff and have people ready for management positions when management positions become available. The number one motivator of people is feedback on results. Write down goals. Check to see if behavior matches goals.WE WANT TO HELP PEOPLE REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. CATCH THEM DOING SOMETHING RIGHT.
I've had to opportunity to work with a variety of business owners in my sales career and Iāve spent time working with entrepreneurs to help start their own businesses. I find sourcing products fun but sourcing people to be quite difficult especially if itās for a part owner. If your not able to go it alone or find a need to have a co-owner below is a list of warning signs that I have found are clear identifiers of a poor business partner.They Bring Nothing to the Table-They might be your friend or family but they really only have money. They donāt add anything to the company. There is no skill that the co-owner has that you donāt have. This point is often shown when you sit down to discuss what roles each person will perform within a company. If your business partner wants to be an operations manager of a startup that will have four people to start then they wonāt have whole lot to do. However, if they understand inventory or shipping and want to focus on that part of the business then they have a purpose. Itās important for everyone involved in a business to have a purpose. Even as an owner (unless you are an investor) you must have some way of contributing.They are Preoccupied by Dreams of Riches-If your business partner spends his time talking about the cars and the āfree timeā they will have once the company is up and running you may want to walk away. You may end up rich and able to vacation around the world but most entrepreneurs donāt get that opportunity. Most spend their days running their business. Your focus needs to be on the business. Not ideas of selling the company to travel the world. Not on day one anyways. Zero Time Commitments-Your current job takes time. Your business, even if itās a side business, will take time. Probably more time. If your business partner cannot manage his time than you could very easily be stuck with more work than you bargained for. They Refuse to ReadPart of owning a business is continually learning and growing yourself so that you can better grow the business. If your business partner doesnāt like to read thatās fine. There are audio books for that. But when you get into business with a person who stops himself from learning because they ādonāt like readingā or ādonāt have the timeā to get through books that would help enhance his or her understanding of running a business thatās a problem. The problem is personal growth. If you never learn you never grow. Poor Personal FinanceThis is an extremely personal topic to discuss with your prospective business partners. However, if you get into business with someone who canāt balance their own checkbook they could soon be using the business checkbook as their own.Find more at SMB-Squared.com
