Favorite Part of Learning
My favorite part about learning is the moment where it really "clicks." When learning something difficult, I feel like there is always a short moment where everything begins to make sense, which makes the learning worth it.
I completely agree with this. I absolutely love to learn new things, mostly because that "click" is such a rewarding feeling!
What I like about my writing process
I like how I start my writing process early. I like to work at it in chunks rather than get it all done in one setting. I think this helps with how creativity flows to allow me to come up with new ideas or topics to talk about. I also think working in stages allows you to go back and reread with a fresh and open mind. This also helps with not being overwhelmed and stressed doing writing assignments last minute.
I feel the same way! For a 5 paragraph essay, I'll set aside a small amount of time each day of the week to write and edit one paragraph. This really helps to make the task less daunting.
What I'm Most Proud Of
The component of my writing process that I'm most proud of is how well I am able to edit as I write. I think this is very beneficial for me because it saves me time at the end of my writing and makes what I first write of higher-quality than if I saved all of my editing and revising for the end.
What I Like Most
The thing I like most about my essay is how I was able to relate all of my learning to my future career. I think that was the most important part of this final reflection. I was able to practice and/or learn all four of the major employee skills throughout this course, and it was interesting to be able to see that through my look back on our learning.
Creativity
I think understanding that creativity is something extremely valuable to employers is critical. Without creativity, its impossible to find diverse solutions to issues. Think of a field like math, 2+2=4 and there's no way around it. But in graphic design, creativity is REQUIRED to succeed. Graphic design allows near infinite possible solutions to a given problem based on how the designer creatively thinks.
I definitely think creativity exists in every possible career field, but is more prominent in some than others. Your example of how math is objective compared to graphic design that requires creative input and subjectivity proves this. However, even the field of math has some component of creativity to it, because mathematicians must use creativity when applying math concepts to real-world issues and science. This is why it is such a sought-after skill by employers!

This is a section from my content reflection essay. In this section, I focused on describing how I developed the employer skills and how it relates to what we did in class and my future career.

Personally, I connected my development of the four skills to my specific career path. I think this makes the reflection more meaningful and individual to your experiences with this class. I also think you should describe each skill equally because they are all important, but it's okay to mention that one particular skill is more useful in your line of work!
Writing and Creativity
Although creativity exists in every form of art, writing is a space that requires just as much as other forms. When one writes, they are taking ideas and placing them into words. However, good writing requires the writer to go beyond this by creating sentences and paragraphs that not only flow coherently for the reader, but also uses specific word choices to "spice up" the writing and create the atmosphere that's intended for the audience. If two writers are given the same prompt, it is nearly impossible for them to write the exact same paper, word-for-word. Their experiences, writing knowledge, audience interpretation and more will be reflected in the way in which they approach the topic. This is the creativity in writing, and what makes every piece of writing its own work of art.
What is my writing process?
My writing process is not a linear path. To start, I brain-dump onto a piece of paper. I prefer writing with pencil and paper because I feel like I don't have to be as organized as I am when I type. During this brain dump I jot down every single idea I have, whether I think it's good enough to be part of my writing or not. Then, I go through and circle/star the ideas that I feel are most important to add to my paper. I take these ideas and turn them into an organized outline on another piece of paper, something more coherent and followable when creating my first draft. Finally, it's time to write. I follow my outline and turn it into paragraphs that flow together. I end my writing by going back and editing and making changes to my draft to complete the final form of my paper.
Skills: Collaboration
I understand collaboration to be the work of two or more individuals to make positive progress on a piece of work. In web writing, this could be the exchange of feedback on writing between peers who are both trying to grow their web writing skills. Collaboration could also include working together on the same piece of writing and exchanging ideas on how to write and improve the piece.
Skills: Critical Thinking
I understand critical thinking to be the process of receiving information as objectively as possible and using it to make meaningful interpretations of the world around you. Within web writing, this manifests in multiple ways such as using all aspects of the piece of writing (writer, time of publication, platform, etc.) in order to make meaning out of it rather than only looking at the actual writing.
How to Write Guide Feedback
In my feedback from Dr. P, I was told to add an introduction to content strategy. I have since added this in to the beginning of my how to write guide. Because I have four tips with information, I don't have much room on my page, so I wanted to keep the information brief and to the point. Do you think this information does what it is intended for, or should I try to add more?
I got feedback on this too, haha! You let the creators know why this guide is useful and important, but kept everything brief and to the point. It looks good to me! Just be sure to fix your spelling on "specially" lol!
How did content creating go?
Is anyone actually creating content? I was thinking of just finding example content that exemplifies my tips and tricks, but half of the short writing options are about creating content. Ik creating content mandatory, or is it just strongly encouraged? Idk I sorta like tiktoking but I have like zero cosplay equipment and zero time to NOT do essays and my other course work.
My content analysis was also about TikTok and at first I was really nervous to make content. It took awhile for me to figure out how to go through the creation process in terms of the type of content I was trying to make (gaming videos) but I finally got it down! It definitely isn't perfect by all means and very unprofessional, but the message is there for my creators. I would say to just try your best with the tools you have.

This is the title slide for my How To Write Guide. I included "How To Write Guide" at the top as a way to introduce the project, but I am still a bit iffy on that since this is meant to be a guide for my creators, not for my professor. Should I take that out and leave "Content Strategy Tips for Gaming TikTok Creators" as the main title? I am also unsure about the bottom section where it says "a concise guide by Sadie Mikula". How do you all feel about that? Should I leave it as just my name, keep the "by" in front, or leave it untouched how it is? My thought process was that it would inform my creators that everything they are going to read is purposefully short and sweet so they feel more inclined to read it. Any thoughts on any part of this slide would be greatly appreciated!!!

This is an example of my first tip. I have my tips separated into video tips (as seen above) and text tips. Each tip has its own slide dedicated to it, but I'm not sure how practical that is since the guide is supposed to be as condensed and easy-to-read as possible and many slides could disrupt that. I thought about having my video tips on one slide and text tips (aka description) on another. What do you guys think of that? Should I keep it how it is or condense all of the information?

This is what I have on my introduction slide. Dr. P has already given me feedback saying I need more information for my intro slide. I plan to add a section briefly explaining why I am qualified to give these suggestions/why my creators should trust my input. Should I make this a bullet list like I already have for the "what you will gain" section or should I state this in paragraph form? Going off of this, should I edit my "what you will gain" section to be in paragraph form as well? I figured that bullets make the information easier to digest quickly which I know is an aspect of this project we need to consider, but I want it to remain formal as well. Any feedback you have for this slide would be great!
Content Creation
Content creation was a bit difficult for me, but mostly because it was so time-consuming. Filming alone was a bit difficult, but then editing and uploading my videos took even more time. Something I learned from this was that content creation is much more difficult than some people may think. Planning and setting adequate time aside is important.
One of my Tips
One of my tips is to keep "traditions".
An important part of having a successful social media account is remembering to put energy toward your bond with your loyal audience members. Many of your followers keep coming back because they enjoy the flow and style of your posts, so you should aim for a similar content structure in each of them. This could include:
Starting your posts the same way
Ending your posts the same way
Filming in the same location
Although this tip is geared toward TikTok creators, it can be useful for other platforms as well!
