for a romcom, Voicemails For Isabelle sure made me cry a lot. 10/10, no notes. is zoey deutch the new queen of romcoms or what? and nick robinson? what a man. need them in even more romcoms
"Maybe sometimes life rigs things in our favour."
I really want to thank Nick Robinson and/or his agent for doing Voicemails for Isabelle because that was one (if not the) most delightful romcoms I've seen in a WHILE.
ready?
Your own person wouldn't leave you in the rain, they'd dance with you in it.
The beauty of this movie is that it started with a tragedy and ended with a healing. It was such a beautiful ending with the right blend of tearjerker back story.
I haven't watched RomCom movies in a while because quite frankly, romcom movies has lost its spark with me lately. I didn't think I'd be satisfied with an hour or two story but this movie just made a believer out of me again.
I enjoyed every bit of this movie. It wasn't heavy but it wasn't light and shallow either. They showed a beautiful kind of love. Not perfect but it was one for the books.
They showed that healing takes courage, yes. But you didn't have to be alone when you do. That sometimes, healing is also accepting new people. I still believe that Izzy sent Wes to Jill.
May we all find this kind of love that dances with us even when everyone's looking. Or even if no one is.
Aaaaah, it's really good to be alive in this era with good movies and romcom to run to when the world isn't being beautiful.
I really like Nick Robinson's eyes, he looks so internally tortured and sad all the time even when smiling. He really looks like he has hidden emotional depth, which I know men aren't capable of. Kudoes to him.

VOICEMAILS FOR ISABELLE — 2026, dir. Leah McKendrick
voicemails for isabelle didn't just use two underrated songs from taylor swift on the soundtrack, they made it for the swifties
the taylor swift jokes at the pool were SUCH swiftie humour i love it
also to build a home by the cinematic orchestra in a movie never fails to make me cry
I internally screamed when marjorie and New Year's Day started playing on screen.
and don't even get me started on the pool scene. the moment his friend said 'I miss the old Wes', I KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO CRACK THAT JOKE. The movie has voicemails in its name, of course they were going to crack the 'can't come to the phone right now' joke.
The entire movie soundtrack was *chef's kiss*
three minutes into voicemails for isabelle and i've already sobbed. quality child actresses and classic robynnnnn needle drops always win the day! also, hiiiiiii gil from ally mcbeal!
WISH ME LUCK, FOLKS!

just the first few minutes into the movie and I was crying! This was honestly a perfect romcom....I feel like the newer romcoms I watched were very run of the mill and didn''t make me feel things really, but with this I cried, I laughed, I sympathized with and swooned. I love Jill, Wes, and Zella and of course, Isabelle (my heart). Also, discovered that I am in fact attracted to men because every time Wes appeared, I was biting my finger because he's so like kind, honest, cute, *chalant* and his eyes....damn they crinkle when he smiles. Zoey Deutch did an amazing performance, I loved Jill so so much. I cried when she did, I laughed when she did, and when she was mad I was right there with her. I loved how her character was actually funny, witty, socially awkward, but kind, without falling into the quirky stereotype. I loved her. Overall, a nearly perfect movie.

just watched Voicemails for Isabelle and as cheesy as it was, it was still better than it's plot twin (like literally the same plot lmao) Love Again 😬😅
Nick Robinson gracing my screen again. And in a romcom. What a time to be alive
