the thing about mental illness is everyone on the internet talks about stigma and oppression and everyone in research talks about symptoms and diagnosing and nobody talks about treatment. nobody talks about recovery. you google treatment for any disorder and its "CBT and medication". you google self-help for any disorder and its "meditate and drink water". you google "(disorder) resources" and theres like 3 results. it often takes me hours to put together support resource masterlists just because nobody even talks about that aspect of it so i have to really dig to find anything. obviously stigma and oppression are important to talk about but why are we barely talking about recovery and self help and teaching each other symptom management and swapping tips + tricks and making resources and sharing experiences and writing books + essays + poetry and giving each other hope and supporting each other and

sometimes abuse victims will think they were/are not being abused. sometimes abuse victims will think it's okay they were/are being abused for whatever reason.
sometimes abuse victims will insist to others that they were/are not being abused. sometimes abuse victims will insist to others that it's okay they were/are being abused for whatever reason.
in fact, leading a victim to believe that what is happening is normal and fine and even good or righteous for whatever reason is a common feature of abuse, whether the abuser did it on purpose or not.
if an abuse victim in your life...
questions whether they were abused
goes back and forth about whether they think they were abused
tells you they weren't being abused, and then later says they were
...these can all be very normal parts of living with abuse trauma and don't mean someone is lying or exaggerating about being abused.
The most basic, intractable fact about mental illnesses is that you simply cannot willpower your way out of them. The only exceptions to this rule are the ones I have, which continue to disable me due to lack of determination and other grave personal flaws
hey guysss so unfortunately the rumors are true and im leaving the narrative. Buttt the good news is my absence will create such a gaping hole in your lives that it will become a sort of presence itself, and so in a way it will kind of be like i never left! But i am. Leaving just to be clear.
passing in public makes me feel like white shrek

i had a dream last night that there was a new deltarune character named krailey and it just looked like a weird knockoff of ralsei that danced in place like a peanuts character and it pissed ralsei off like crazy
does a stupid gay little dance that pisses everyone ralsei off

Bro absolutely COOKED with this.
If you ever hear the phrase "fascism is aesthetics as politics," that's what this post is talking about.
It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.
It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.
This is why a lot of conservatives and other right wingers can get straight up angry when you suggest things like reform or social measures to reduce crime. They don't want crime to be reduced, they want an eternal war against "crime" because it provides an arena for the righteous to demonstrate virtue by brutalizing their enemies.
one time I went over to a friend's house and their housemate was making paper in the living room, and we saw this big tub full of water they were using to dissolve old scrap paper into a slurry, and everyone was immediately like "oh, you need scrap paper?" and started turning out their jacket pockets and producing expired coupons and bus tickets and crumpled receipts and old shopping lists and whatever else they'd been carrying round with them for no good reason, and passing it all to the paper-making housemate to make sure it was suitable before it got torn up and dropped into the tub, while people took turns stirring the slurry with a big wooden stick. it was strangely ritualistic, like presenting an offering to some kind of temple elder for inspection before placing it in a watery shrine to be devoured and reformed. pulp for the pulp god.
every time you make art of any kind, a stat that is not visible to the player goes up. also, this is the most important stat in the game
does singing in the shower count as art
does a strong as fuck ice mummy have ice powers
does writing fanfiction count as art
