Looking for some fellow writers or people who love to read!
I’ve been working on writing a trilogy for a few years now and I’m almost done with the second in the series but I would love some feedback of the first and second books (they are mostly unedited at this point and I haven’t thought much about publishing yet but I’ve reached a stage where I feel ready to share them as I think it would massively help me fine tune them and consider next steps).
They have LBGTQ+ characters in, are set in a post apocalyptic near future and provide a unique take on a traditional ‘zombie’ narrative that leaves the reader to decide who the real monsters of the story are.
I will post a brief synopsis below but if you are interested in being a beta reader please drop me a message as it would be a huge help 🥰
Book 1 Synopsis:
2052. It came from beneath the ice, a disease trapped for thousands of years finally set free. The researchers who found it brought it back but it could not be contained. An accident leads to it reaching the public and it quickly spreads thick and fast across the planet, transferred by as little as a scratch, transferred by blood.
In the US the army does their best to contain the situation ordering all citizens into walled camps, any already infected quickly disposed of. Shay along with her brother and friend Danny end up among those ‘saved’ but with the strain on military forces evident and resources scarce any above the ages of 16 are quickly trained into a militant force.
This new virus targets most by slowly taking away who they are until they simply devolve, running purely on animalistic instinct, kill, eat, survive, but in a few it seems to do the opposite, expanding their capabilities in unique ways, making them smarter, stronger and able to do things that most would believe were purely fictional.
An unseen complication on a simple mission leaves Shay no choice but not return to the walled city, knowing full well the consequences if she did. In a desperate attempt to survive, to find answers and to save herself, her brother and maybe even humanity she sets off into this new world and the trials it will bring. But will her past catch up to her or will it be the key to setting her free?
