fictional pedophilia (yes, it's pedophilia. it's a relationship between an adult and a minor.) causes harm. it triggers actual victims of abuse, it normalizes pedophilic relationships, and acts as a gateway for real pedophiles to get away with it. saying it doesn't cause harm is incredibly ignorant. please try to listen to other sides of the story, talk to abuse victims and how it affects them. fictional pedophilia hurts.
You do way more harm by comparing what we create to actual ped*philia. The definition of that word is not adult x minor. Ped*philia involved CHIDLREN. You know, like actual, real-life, breathing 10 and under year olds. I’ve seen you ignorant fools use this word from anything from adult x minor all the way to a 25 yr old and a 35 yr old. You guys have completely diluted that word to mean literally nothing, so congrats.
Not to mention, you’re comparing someone’s real-life trauma and pain to words on a page and drawings. I’ve used this example before, but it would be like going to a funeral and telling someone grieving that “yeah I know how you feel. I was just upset when Dumbledore died.” Do you not see how stupid that is? That’s exactly what you’re doing.
It may trigger actual abuse victims, but that’s why everything gets properly tagged. Hell, most of my content doesn’t even get posted in the main tags for people to find. If they do their due diligence, then they shouldn’t be triggered.
It doesn’t normalize ped*philic relationships as long as the child was raised correctly any more than Pokemon normalizes animal abuse. It just doesn’t happen. If someone grows up thinking that this is okay, it’s because their parents failed. I’ve been shipping supernatural creatures x teenagers since I was 13, more than half my life, but my ships have NEVER made me think that this kind of stuff is okay in real life. Ped*philes are a blight on humanity and that has never changed because of my personal ships.
You’re out of your mind if you think ped*philes use fandom as a gateway for them to ‘get away with it’. That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Ped*philes have existed far longer than fandoms ever have, so by saying what you did, you’re basically handing them an excuse. Stop it.
People grew up watching Harry Potter, but no one believed that magic and magical creatures were real. Twilight was a giant phenomenon that crossed the entire world shipping a ship that was VERY similar to beetlebabes.

By comparing what we do to ped*philia, you basically say that these victims that you’re advocating for, their trauma is just as bad as what Lydia goes through which is NOTHING because she’s not a real person. Those victims are. Instead of sending me anons, spend your time doing something productive. Go volunteer at a CSA organization and donate your time and money to helping actual survivors. What you’re doing right now, helps absolutely no one.
